I just pulled my old model 1 Sega CD out of storage to take a newly acquired copy of "Lunar 2" out for a spin. The power comes on and I get the boot screen and control panel. I can even get at my save game data. However none of my games or music CDs will access. The drive door just keeps opening as if there were no game present.

I noticed that thegametrader.com has a repair service offered for old systems. $19.95 for the Sega CD. They claim most problems can be solved without additional expenses over this. Has anyone here used their services before? Any recomendations... disaster scenarios?

Thats the same problem I have with mine. I've looked into trying to repair it myself but google does nothing.

but not to throw your thread off track. I think twenty dollars to get it fixed is a bit steep IMO. as you can get one for about that price.

please if you find out anything somewhere else please be sure to let me know. As I'll do the same.

But will it work?

How much would you fix it for? :)

If it is working and waranteed after, seems reasonable to me. When a system is fixed properly, it's usually in far far better condition than an old find that 'worked last time it was put away'.

I'm surprised they offer it at all. All the local games stores in my area offer repairs.

My repairs. 8-)
