This may sound like a way-off question, but does anyone know where to pick up Dreamcast replacement cases that are 100% exact to the original. If you're a true dreamcast fan, you'll note that the part of the case that holds the cd - on CD cases usually there is the CD-ROM logo on the upper right and bottom left corners. Worse even is maxell replacements that have the dude sitting in the chair etched in. Dreamcast cases are blank. Actually, there's a spot for the logo but it's just left blank. I've been looking EVERYWHERE for them with no luck.
I guess my other question is - does it matter to you or should it impact the value of the disc?

I voted yes, because I am having the same dilemma. I need to replace some cracked cases, but I only want to use a jewel case from another DC game, not some generic brand. The only solution for me then, is to buy other games to use their jewel cases, namely sports games.

I like originals also...but I don't cannibalize games or add on replacements for my collection. It's just not the same if it's a Frankenstein's Copy, for me anyhow.

I haven't yet, but i'm sure i someday will. My problem is i had a lot that were cracked and stickered to hell, it'd be better off with a replacement, and all i had on hand where other brands, etc.
I also find that the little ring of clips in the center tend to break quickly on DC games.

i'm speaking for pal cases here, and it does matter to me, i'd rather buy some crap game in good shape to replace the case with a real one than go with a bad replacement
for pal there are even 2 different official cases :/

I voted yes also cause I like to keep things original, but since I'm not a Dreamcast collector I don't go out of my way to use original cases. Though if I have to use a replacement case I make sure it's a clear one.

I didn't care when I compiled my Dreamcast collection -- as long as the case was not broken and / or sticky with residue, it was replaced with a new one. I did find cases that were identical to the originals though, at Sam Goody (I think?). It was something like $10.00 for 20 of them, but it was worth it in my opinion to make my collection look great :)

Really? Get out! I've been looking everywhere, and we don't have a Sam Goody... anyone willing to check to see if they are still there (said on hands and knees in a begging tone).

...... :hmm:
what the hell.. its a clear cd case, i use any clear cd case i can find.
i thought i was an incredibly picky collector, but that shit blows my mind. i am looking at my DC collection as of this very moment... they are all sitting there lined up on a shelf, and you cant tell a single one of them has a different type of case.

i'm a PAL gamer, and as the PAL DC cases are so different from normal jewel cases i want them original.

I am all for 100% originality.
If i ended up with fake ones i would swap out the cheap games with real games for remakes.
I want my stuff to be as best condition and close to original as i can get it.

I never even noticed.
As long as the game is in a nice looking case that looks the same as DC cases on the outside, then I don't care if there's a CD rom logo on the inside.

Clear jewel cases are all pretty much the same. YOu can get teh same style and it's impossible to tell the difference. That's just crazy talk.

I guess I'm just way to picky then - there is a difference inside. I know it's subtle but it's there.
Still wondering about sam goody!

While completing one DC set, and possessing many, many more extras, and the multiple dozens of factory sealed games I have opened, it is my conclusion that DC games come with either the "empty box" or the "compact disc" designation.
"It just doesn't matter, it just doesn't matter!"
I tend to leave the games in what ever case I buy em in, unless the case is just too ugly or broken.
Unless thes a warner brother insignia I wont nice. Or care. :/

If a Jewel Case has been lost, that speaks volumes as to how the game has been treated. The Dreamcast is like the PS1, the Genesis, and any other game to come in a box since the days of antiquity: If you were there around the time it was out, you should have no problem with still having the game in it's original box.

I agree 100& with this and I tend to pick up the £1.99 games when ever I see them just so I have spares about the place }:)
