I had to pick up a new Gamecube (the Metroid Prime bundle) in large part so that I could play RE4 as soon as it was released. I have to say it was worth every penny since I got the MP bundle and picked up Zelda:WW and Baten Kaitos also ive been in gaming heaven man :D
RE is incredible and soo freakin impressive in every possible way.
Wind Waker is a great surprise and I had a previous GC just for MP once before.
Baton Kaitos is my favorite RPG since Final Fantasy 9 on PSone a very slick well developed game from the gods at Namco.
both my PS2 and Xbox are collecting dust LOL
I know that RE4 will be released on the PS2 later this year but was wondering if anyone else will pick up or knows other gamers that have got a GC just to play RE4 or the new Zelda when its released?

Of course it will. I've been seriously thinking about buying a Cube...

Hell it makes me want to buy a new Cube, so I would say so.

I heard from a friend of mine yesterday, that even Halo 2 fans love it! That's odd to me, especially coming from mainstream people :eek 2:

I lent my gamecube to a friend for 6 months and when RE4 came out I got it back. This game is awesome and the minigames are great too.

It will definately sell some Cubes, but unfortuneately I don't think it'll sell enough to raise any eyebrows. It might though if it was exclusive. If I were Nintendo I would have made sure to lock Capcom into some sort of contract when they were originally talking about making the game exclusive, and done the same for the other Capcom "exclusives" at the time.

I can already confirm two new GC purchases from some friends and their xbox's are paperweights for the time being.

Speaking as a retailer, it's definitely happening. I personally have sold 3 RE4 + Gamecubes.

None of them were new tho... EB has used gamecubes on sale for $60 :) So for less than the price of a used PS2 or Xbox, you can get a GC and what appears to be one of the best games on the system :)

Yeah, it will sell a few. My brother hates the RE games, but LOVES RE4. I love it as well!!!!!!

I bought it so I could play RE Zero.

So I would say yes.

As an aside, I'd say that while I feel the GC library isn't quite strong enough to make it my first choice for a home console, I think the nice diversity of "exclusive" games makes it the perfect 2nd system. Plus the low cost of the console makes it ideall suited for that purpose.

quick question about the gameplay, i forget what's it's called but is it one of those games where in order to walk "down" towards the screen you have to push "up" on the controller because he is facing that way, or does pushing down make the character always walk down towards the screen?

does that make sense?

It is not exclusive, but I bet the PS2 version is not as good, simply because it was developed for the Gamecube, and the fact that the PS2 is not as powerful (and rarely has progressive scan support).

Yeah, it has been selling a few systems. I have seen it sell four systems myself.

I just bought a Cube + Resident Evil 4 earlier this week, and am not regretting it one bit.

Nope. All new 3rd person perspective, probably the best ever. It just works.

I think it will, I just played RE4 twice at a friend's house and the game rocks in every conceivable way. I won't be buying a cube to play it because I alreadiy have a cube but I will be buying RE4 when I get some cash. Those of you that don't have a cube or RE4 get both now! :D

Thats the whole reason I bought a GC

If you like RPG's you've got to pickup Tales of Symphonia. Absolute masterpiece. It's certainly not as cinematic as the Final Fantasy and clones as of late, but it's pure meaty gaming.

You should definitely check it out after you make your way through some of the games you've already got ;)

That's like saying GTA: San Andreas isn't exclusive hehe. If anything is only on one system for an extended amount of time, it might as well be exclusive.

But there are multiple degrees of exclusivity ;)

I've never played a RE game. I generally dislike scary, violent and gory stuff (movies, video games, etc.) But for whatever reason, I'm planning on picking up RE4 when I can find it on sale. I've owned a GC since about launch, so I won't need to buy one. But there seems to be some magical power associated with RE4 if even I want to buy it.

I am glad to hear it's selling a few systems!!
I absolutely LOVE this game! It's just so good. I haven't been this happy over a game since SSX3 came out in '03. (I mean for current gen. games) I mean everytime I am away from my GC, all I can think about is getting back to play RE4.
I will be sad when I beat it though. What else to do.

i know at least 10-11 people who bought a cube since RE4's launch just to play, it is an amazing game, im sure there are people who will wait for the ps2 vesion, but you know it wont nearly as pretty

Definitely! I've yet to get one (other priorities) but I WILL just to play RE 4 as I have been highly anticipating it, also got a deal on RE 0 which I am looking at right now so I plan to pick up the Cube with RE 4 and a memory card to start, maybe if I can resist I will play RE 0 first. Anyway, it's a no brainer for me since I am such a big Survival Horror fan, of course I will still need to get the original RE remake too. No plans to bother with R.E. 2 or 3 though (I have 2 and 3 on Dreamcast as well as Dead Aim and Outbreak on PS2). I have no other plans for Gamecube except maybe Eternal Darkness and maybe a few Gamecube only exclusives, honestly though once I have played/completed all those I will probably put my whole Gamecube package together and sell or trade it to go back toward my PS2/Xbox/PC gaming collection since they are much more exstensive.......... :D

Somebody seems a little negative. I think the Gamecube is pulling it's weight just fine.
