we've waited how long for gt4 and now sony says they're finally releasing it.since annoucing it ,project gotham 2 ,burnout 3 and a bunch of other really good games have come out since.on top of that now forza motor sport is coming out around the same time and it like the other games have online play.I like gt4 as much as the next person but dang, they are loosing people because of dumb cuts and set backs.

I don't think Sony has anything to worry about. GT4 will sell a butt load. But they're not loosing people. In fact I want to buy a PS2 just for GT4 (well, and GT:SA but that's coming to PC so meh)... Forza looks good, but there's no track record. SEGA GT looked good until I played it. I guess GT is GT. There's a huge fan base. They're not going anywhere.

It's better to delay a game, so it can be perfected. Then to rush a game, leaving it unpolished and glitchy.

Gran Turismo is the pinnacle of sim racers. There is no better. It's worth every setback. Yeah, it's annoying but when you finally DO pick up that package and take it home, put in the disc and settle back.....3 AM comes awfully fast.

As far as the same-old same-old? Haven't you been reading ANY articles or watching those monthly OPM movies on GT4? It's nearly ALL new content with new modes of play. I can hardly wait to play B-spec mode. It sounds incredible. I cross my fingers and hope that the AI finally has some intelligence to it.

I take comfort in the fact that my long wait is nearly over. :-P

GT = pure gameplay, i can't find another racing game that does play so well. PGR2 was a nice try but when i played it i liked the Ferrari's and thats about it, the cars are drving like they are boats ... and for the rest there is no competition (as Forza aint gonna be so good as it looks)

Spending more time on a project does not in any way guarantee it will be perfected, or even better than it was before. I've seen projects get pushed back for major changes which turned out pretty badly.

THANK you. I'm so sick of people raving about that game.

I'm not a very big GT fan, I'm more into arcade racers, and I know zilch about cars so all the deep customization and tweaking is lost on me. I'll get 4 eventually when it's down to $20 or so, but since it doesn't have online play I don't have the desire to own it right away. The graphics do look sweet though.

Exactly
I too am waiting for GT4. One of the only raciing games, currently that I still like.

I think it all boils down to what YOU are looking for personally.

If you are still shocked and awed by the graphics of Gran Turismo,(which, admittedly, doesn't have the same WOW factor since the Xbox came out) then you'll find something to like here. If you appreciate the minutae and small enhancements that have been made, such as handling and weight distribution, you'll like it.

If you're into the fast-action stuff like Burnout and Project Gotham, then Gran Turismo probably won't suit your tastes--at least, not to that degree. Same thing goes for the online element and what you classify as 'the good stuff'.

I personally don't think heavy sim games like GT and the upcoming Forza would be a lot of fun online. Most online games are fast and frenzied, much like Burnout and PGR.

I'll admit that I was really hyped up for GT4, and then I've played all of these other great racing games. I might not be as crazy about GT4, but I'm still looking forward to it very much.

I would ordinarily agree with you, but in this case, the online mode has been cancelled AND the game got delayed. The omission of online play is like a slap in the face. You spend so much time buying/tuning cars, it's a waste to not be able to take a car you've poured so much work into and not be able to race others with it unless they're playing on the same console.

To add to my previous post......as a GT fan, the biggest draw for me IS the hyper-realistic graphics and replays. The gameplay and tuning come second. Racing games dont offer much challenge to me....and in that respect GT4 will most likely be no different. I'm dying to see how it LOOKS. :-P

Well of the 10 percent I have completed in the import version I say it will be well worth the wait. The graphics in 1080i on a WD tv are amazing. But as its been said before if you dont like this style of racing you will probably want to pass on it. :D

Isn't the word that the game was nearly finished and the delay is to ADD the online mode of play?

And I think the realism of graphics has to match the realism of handling/tuning for the complete GT experience.
