I found a ROM on the internet today and decided to give it a shot. Seems like a solid if unspectacular beat-em-up (kinda like a sequel to the original arcade game really), but it's glitchy as hell. Is there a finished version somewhere? Do I have the final version? I died 3 times just trying to make a jump to a different platform, then I sent a boss off a cliff and it just stood there and did nothing.

wow I never even knew their was such a game. I think I can safely say no to a US release as Tecmo only released sports games on the Genesis here. I'm interested to know if it ever excisted else where though since I like to collect Tecmo stuff.

I can just about tell you for sure that there was never a Japanese release of it. Unless there's a PAL/Brazilian version out there, it's most likely an incomplete beta and unreleased...

Also...not to threadjack, but in a similar vein: Can anyone tell me if the MD version of Jim Power was actually released? I've seen screenshots and a ROM, but I can't come up with a box scan or anyone claiming to own it, and I'd love to know... :/

I actually mentioned this in the soundtracks thread - not as an outstanding example of how a game should sound, though LOL

Well, the ROM is marked JUE, so it supposedly works for all regions. Anyhow, The Ninja Gaiden Homepage Page (http://www.classicgaming.com/ninjagaiden/ng-gen.html) mentions the Japanese release specifically at the bottom, even going so far to say it's not worth much. I assumed it was Euro-only but in any case I probably found out about it from that page.

AFAIK it was released in Japan. But only there.

Its not like the NES games..its more like the arcade game....the character´s animation is really bad....Im glad it wasnt released in the US!

The lynx game is still the best version of the arcade game

My game list (with what I believe is all 422 Japanese MD releases) doesn't have it. Only Tecmo releases on there are four sports games:

Tecmo Super Bowl
Tecmo Super Bowl 2
Tecmo Super NBA Basketball
Tecmo World Cup '92 (Which was actually published by Sims Co.)

Nothing related comes up searching for either "Ninja" or "Gaiden", much less in the same game title (Ninja Burai Densetsu is the only "Ninja" MD game, and it's a tactical battle game of some kind). There's an off chance that it saw an asian release (I'm still looking for an Asian MD games list...) but it is VERY likely that it's just a leaked beta ROM. A box shot would be really helpful in cases like this...

I'm glad you mentioned this because I've been searching like mad and have come up with nothing. Every site (including this one) that list games doesn't have it. It wasn't even listed as Rumor Mill on the DP guide. Has anyone actually played the game or just the ROM

I played the rom for a bit on the Dreamcast. I'm sure you can figure that one out. Didn't like the way it controlled and it didn't seem like Ninja Gaiden, at least not like the ones I've played on the NES.

A site out there has the rom listed as Ninja Gaiden (W) [x].

The game definitely never came out anywhere. It's in multiple Japanese unreleased lists.

Wha? I 've played the game...I have the rom hanging around somewhere. My understanding was that it was a JAP only release.

Nope, never saw the light of day. In one of my sega visions magazines a person wrote a letter asking about it and sega basically said nicely, never, but go buy our other games, bitch.

For some reason, that sounds like Sega Visions lol the first issue is a riot to read, every kids question...the answers turn out to be a sales pitch...

Lol, exactly, it's really funny.

"Sorry but no! Now keep on reading for more upcoming games from your FAVORITE company!"

Haha, poor kids =\

The MD Ninja Gaiden was only a Nippon thing. It's just as well, 'cause it was a pretty lousy game, almost like some b-list title that was slapped with the Gaiden name to sell copies. Anyone with a copy of Gens can see that it's just a dull beat-em-up.

No, no, no...it was NEVER released. I can say this with confidence. I've never seen it in any release games list, the only places I've ever seen it are ROMs or reviews of ROMs. Never seen it for auction. Never seen an Asian-version. It's 100% unreleased, and for good reason.

Now if someone who knows PAL releases could tell me this about Jim Power... :hmm:

Certainly :)
Never seen it in any reliable release list or magazine list, never seen it for auction, never heard a rumour of a 'proper' release, never seen it mentioned outside of ROM sites.
It should probably have a Rumor Mill entry in the database, but I'm pretty certain it was never released.
