I was looking through some eBay auctions today and came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8163444031&rd=1

Way too much for me to spend on, but it is cool none the less.

$500? I don't collect displays so I don't really understand the pricing on these things, but that seems out-freakin-rageous. It is cool, though. I just wouldn't expect it to be worth that much money unless it was at least 50 years old.

This has already been posted in the Ebay insanity section. It is pretty crazy though!

I hope the winner is local and can pick it up 'cause that's gonna cost a pretty penny to ship.

You know, wives have been known to divorce their husbands over purchases like this. LOL

$500 is a lot, but I want it so much. How cool would it be to have that in a game room, or just in the house period.

I wonder what Cauterize is gonna say when He sees this. He's a big Game Boy nut right?

I saw this auction a couple weeks ago, but it then disappeared. weird.

When I saw it the first time, I tried to find any info on it. Only thing I could find was a lawsuit. Turns out Lechmere had them made for their stores, then one fell on a kid. Not sure it's the same display, but it seems to fit the description. So, maybe former Lechmere employees may know the where abouts of more? Or maybe even auction records from when they went out of business? I know I want one.

As Flack said in the Ebay Insanity thread, this is actually a GUTTED one. Originally this thing is REALLY a huge gameboy with a giant mono (aka gameboy) screen. It also had a gameboy attached to the front to put games in and such.

I seem to recall a website in which someone detailed how he assembled such a unit himself.

Yeah, that didn't look as close to a Game Boy as this one though...not nearly!

That's neat....and my dad lives about 2 hours from Bend. I was born in Bend. Darn it. However.....I wouldn't spend $500 on it...maybe $200...

If the TV came with it I would definitely bid on it. My marriage might not have lasted beyond that point, but I still would've bought it! :P

Damn that's cool. I have no room for it, but I want it just to squander it for the next 100 years.

But seriously, this can't be official, because wouldn't someone have seen one before?

Holy crap, that thing rocks. o_o Those guys are idiots for playing Halo on it, though. You totally gotta hook up a Super Nintendo with the Super Game Boy in it, man.

I think it is official, with all the attention to detail, it looks to me to be a perfect copy of the almighty Original Gameboy! that won the harts of millions....................... aaaaaaand millions of gamers world wide! LOL

It was probably an item nintendo had at a trade show or something of that nature. Isn't there a Ex-Nintendo (employee) that sometimes? frequents DP?

Maybe he could shed some light on this super-dupa! display item!

EDIT : I just asked the seller about the gameboy, he told me that if bidding reaches $1000 bux he'll throw in 5 gameboy games to use with the gameboy and the gameboy magnifer he has! but it takes 2 people to plug in the carts and 5 to attach the magnifer! :P

PS. I'm jokin... i didn't contact the seller, i have to say that, just incase some dumbass! wins and tells the seller he wants the games and magnifer LOL
