After years of being outbid on one of these bad boys, I've finally landed a PlayStation Net Yaroze at a decent price. It's all complete and spiffy. Now all I need to do is start creating THE GREATEST GAMES YOU'VE EVER PLAYED.
My games will have excessive violence the likes of which would make Grand Theft Auto fans blush.
My games will be incredibly playable. The kinds that will sell PlayStaton 1's in this day and age just so you can play these gems.
My games will have graphics and sound that rival the masters! You will want to pause the game just so you can marvel at the details on your TV screen, and then pop the game into your stereo so you can re-live the majestic soundtrack when you can't play.
All I need now is a whole lot of free time. And some skills.
... to be continued!

Congrats! Not only is the system capable of bringing you nutty ideas to, er, life - but it looks sweet as well. I remember in 1998 Sony released a few fan made Net Yarouze games on the playstation underground disk (before it was included with OPM). The games seemed pretty cool. It's still obviously a very capable system. Why not make Shenmue III? b/c I doubt anyone else will.

Congrats DP!
Welcome to the club of people with Net Yaroze's who have yet to do anything with them (Though DangerBoy cant be knocked for doing almost everything to get it to happen). If you get ahold of a computer with Win95, go to town as thats what you need to create this beautiful carnage.
Also when you start cranking out teh games, consider me the second in line for purchase.

I was thinking instead of making a real-time, real-life graphic adventure/sweeping epic based on my own life. Get up early, get coffee, study other people's code, boss a few people around, go home, drink beer, play videogames, get to bed by 10.
It probably doesn't sound very exciting but neither did Shenmue. And remember, my game will have lots of violence and 25% more alcohol than games before it.

Oh, that was just an early working title. Naturally my magnum opus of carnage will have a much more clever title. One that you can abbreviate and make a trendy new word with.
Yes, culture as you know it will likely change when this game gets out.

Hey! Have you read the script to the game? That was ripped out of one of the side missions: "Find Bubble Bobble 2. Not Rainbow Islands. Not the First Bubble Bobble. It Has To Be Bubble Bobble 2". In that mission, you travel with the half-wit (that's me, ingame) seeking the often-confused-with-another-game Bubble Bobble 2 for NES. You'll be presented with many lookalikes and jackanapery on this quest, but the most difficult part of it is that if you accidentally pick up the wrong game, the half-wit goes on a kill-crazy rampage and you're his main target.
If you manage to escape him you're savaged by a pack of wild monkeys. That's where the story kinda falls apart. I'm working on it.

It can have a "haggle the vendor" minigame.
"you've just found "Bubble Bath Babes" for NES, price is 10.00, you only have 5.00. HAGGLE"
"Press Square to offer 5.00, Press Triangle to offer 2.00, Press Circle to offer .50, Press X to choke vendor"
*X*
"Alternately Tap L1 & R1 as fast as you can to choke the vendor, tap too slow and he gets away and calls the police, tap too fast and you kill him"

Hmm. Interesting concept but one small problem. The triangle button is already reserved as the "drink beer" button. You need that in every stage of the game.

Yippee ki yay, mfer! Congrats on the find.
And 100 bonus points for using the word (?) "jackanapery." 8-)
Good luck on your, erm, game. LOL

"but you just did..."
Anyhoo, i've made a google on the yaroze, and all i've find is that you can use it to play backups. Any real info on it?

Sothy requests double tap triangle = Vodka and Sunny Delight
Combos should include Triple tap triangle + Up Up Down Square = Urinate in grocery store check out line with one hand while drinking unpaid for bottle of nestle quik with the other.

Um, not to sound rude, but did you even bother to look at any of the above post? The net Yaroze was a black playstation that you could only buy from sony (japan?) directly for a whopping 700 dollars. It was primarily made for fan's and developers to produce their very own playstation games on with the help of a PC and share them thru the net.

sorry, but in the post he says he got a net yaroze, not explaining what it is. I have just googled the same thing you just told me (about after 10 pages:S) so sorry if i sounded so dumb.
