How in the world do you people manage to find these auctions that have such rare and valuable stuff in them without buy it now and you happen to be the only person that bids on it. Do you search using the category feature, do you specificly type in what you are searching for?
I myself frequent the "Newly Listed" "BIN" options, but the best I ever did w/ that was getting Virtual boy cheap and suikoden 2 for $10. How do YOU search?

I am currently wondering the same thing,. I have no idea how people get so many good finds on ebay. I mean, I do buy on eBay occasionally, but that is only when I can't find it elsewhere and am willing to pay top dollar.

Some help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you!!!

Ok, here is an insider tip ... (well not really, but it's what I use, so it's all the help I can give you).

I type the name of a game in and the system I am searching for, and then click "search title AND description". I also choose newly listed.

Example Super Mario 3 NES

If I am looking for a game that I don't there will be many of , or is quite rare, I do the same thing but I put the game in quotes by itself. Other than that I do the same thing I did above.

Example "Stadium Events"

Some people would say if you were smart you wouldn't say anything about it. But... hmm sorry I'm really drawing a blank here now. LOL

My tip would be to lok on ebay frequently. Try more than a couple times a day, sad but true. Trust me its well worth the hassle. Or your an idiot like me and you let an R10 Onyx- a brazilian colecovision- go for 40-something dollars...

Well, I have quite an extensive range of tricks and such that I use - some of which I am fairly sure that very few people other than myself utilise. But once I start telling everyone then that pretty much makes it pointless, since when everyone else knows how to look, they will find the same things I do, and I (and they) won't get them for a bargain price any more as we'll be bidding each other up ... just like on everything else on ebay!

The best way is, look often and keep looking .. and if you do this, and play around with all the search functions as you do, you will soon learn little tricks. That's how I did it - I never got any tips from anywhere, just looked lots and worked out what the best way to find the things I wanted was.

Don't you realize that Digital Press has the World Famous eBay Assistant? Anything and everything videogaming related, broken down by catagories and genre:

I'd bookmark that link too. And for those who ask "Where the Hell has THAT been?" I'll just point you to the main page. It's right there in the left-side menu bar. 8-)

That's great. Rare items is just an ebay search for "rare". :hmm:

I use saved searches to get emails when new items are listed. When I was collecting a lot I was looking every day for at least an hour. Searching for things like Sealed, complete, box, manual, certain games, etc.

EDIT: My current favorite searches list (I collect SNES)

That's great. Rare items is just an ebay search for "rare". :hmm:
That was done as a joke, because - as we all know - everything marked "rare" on eBay is indeed "rare." :D

Try doing a search for "L@@K" one day. @_@

The secret is time, and lots of it. Time to search for mispeled titles, look at pics in auctions w/ vague descriptions, etc. In my case, the secret is lack of time to look since I have a bunch of selling to do. Need to recoup some of the $1500 I've blown lately!

I just look for systems with games that are ending soon. I see what has been bid on, and what hasn't. of the things that haven't, I examine the auction, and then I decide whether I want it or not. Also look for what appears to be somebody posting the same auction twice.

I got a complete n64 game for 1.25 because somebody accidently listed it as quake 64 instead of quest 64, and they had an auction right above it where they were selling quake 64.

Fun eBay tip #2394: Find someone that keeps bidding on things you want, and do a bidder search to see what they're currently bidding on. Then outbid them.
