In one of my arcade lots, I picked up "Super Baseball Double Play Home Run Derby". I don't know if the game is rare or not -- KLOV doesn't seem to have much information on it (LINK (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=6756)). I don't really care for the game one way or the other, just got it thrown in with a lot.

Here's the deal; the game is in a fairly nice Robotron cabinet. The control panel is shot (they screwed the Baseball controller into the top of it), but the cabinet itself is decent -- I'd say a 6/10. On top of that, the game has a really nice Joust glass bezel in it.

You guys think I should part this out? Does anyone need any one of those three components (baseball game w/controller, joust bezel, robotron cabinet)? I can provide better pix if anyone's interested. The cabinet is in decent shape, has regular wear (scratches, a little water damage on top).

Does it have a certain kind of specialized controls? I know whenever I try to play it in MAME, I can't do anything because of the controls.

Yeah, it has this big huge box that is bolted to the top of the control panel. Each player has their own buttons, and then each player has their own spring-loaded analog stick for swinging the bat. That must be the part that MAME can't emulate.

How much are you looking for the panel/board?? I don't think they're terribly valuable, but the game is a favorite of mine.

I saw this one in person not long ago and can attest to the fact that the cab is in really nice shape. I got super excited when I saw the Robotron side art (since that's a big favorite of mine), too bad it's been converted. I'll tell you one thing though, with the nice Robotron cab, and a Joust bezel, this thing is just begging to be converted to a Multi-Williams. If I had room for another cab I'd be giving some serious thought to buying it for that purpose.

I don't know -- before I do that I need to find out of there's a market for an empty Robotron cabinet, or if I'll end up with a Williams carcass in my garage forever.

I'd probably consider parting it out on the rgvam newsgroup (as well as here). Let the bezel and the game w/panel go to good homes, then pass off the cab to someone who either needs it or wants to try a MAME machine.

GAH! KEEP IT!!!!

Here's what you do:

- SELL the Double Play stuff to help pay for the items listed below.

- Buy a Robotron marquee
- Buy a Robotron PCB
- Buy a Robotron control panel OR make your own - you're a handy guy, shouldn't be a problem for you. :) Just remember to put metal reinforcements over the wood on the control panel where the joysticks fit.
- Buy a couple Robotron red ball sticks.
- Buy a Robotron bezel (the Joust bezel will suffice - this could be done last or not at all)

- RESTORE that mutha into a delightful Robotron.

Best case is definitely to restore it to Robotron, hell I know a guy in VT who would die for a real Robotron cabinet, even in that shape.

Just don't MAME it. That's not a MAME cabinet.

A Multi-Williams would bring more than a dedicated Robotron in the same condition.

LOL I knew you'd catch my suggesting it. We all really know how I feel about MAMEing cabs. But I did basically mean what I said - unless you're going to do a restore, part that stuff out. Looks like you've already got a taker on the Baseball parts.

Is the Joust monitor bezel in nice shape? How much would you want for it shipped? I've got a Joust converted to Vigilante, that I'm converting back, but the bezel is just a semi-tinted glass w/ no graphics, and I'd like a real Joust one.

Agreed. All of the parts that are missing (cp, marquee, and bezel) have been specifically created to fit this cab. All you'd need is a working set of boards, harness, and Clay's multi kit. That's what I would do and am doing with my Joust.
