Anyone else playing this?

I just cracked it open and played for about an hour. I must say that I'm not nearly as impressed as I thought I would be. The whole "Grand Theft Military" theme doesn't work as well when there are so few vehicles to choose from.

I haven't gotten too far though. Any thoughts?

Yeah I got it too. I played the demo and really liked it, but the game is just ok. I hope the later levels are much better than .... take hummer....Kill koreans....get paid....find another job.

hehe forgot word filter was still on, now it really sounds like GTA. LOL

Hmm, I was just about to go out and get a copy today based on the reviews it's gotten. Might have to reconsider.

Yeah that was one of the first things that struck me odd. A combat game with no online play? There isn't even an offline multiplayer option. Another thing that bothers me right away is the atrocious load times. I get killed in a mission, I get the option to retry it... and I have to wait for the whole thing to load up again? Seems sloppy. There's also something sloppy about the controls. I can't customize them at all (other than inverting the Y-axis on the right thumb) and using the D-pad up and down vs right seems a little weird too.

Still, there's hope for it. The graphics are nice. It seems as if it's going to be big (there should be over 100 missions if my current pace is any indication, since you have to get the "deck of 52" and they're never going to be in consecutive missions).

I'd like to hear some more opinions, I'll post mine as I progress.

I found the demo more enjoyable as well, but from what I gather, that level is from much farther in the game than I've gotten. I just completed the "Clubs" portion of the game.

I'm not too big on the GTA model they went with. I would have been just as happy going mission to mission and "choosing my own way" within the mission, in regards to how I accomplish the tasks. Starting at the M*A*S*H* station whenever you die and having to roam all the way across country again can get painful.

But it is a fun sandbox to play in. When I'm done playing at the end of a session, I usually just run rampant and blow a lot of stuff up before I turn off the Xbox. That in itself is pretty satisfying.

I also recommend the "C4+jeep = carbomb" method of destruction. :)

Did you guys notice some weird physics in the game?

Example: I can walk up to almost anything and when I take a swipe (or kick) at it, it generally goes flying much farther than I would have expected. That just means I'm badass, right? Well then why is it when I ram into similar things with my TANK the tank is actually pulled off course, sometimes lifted in the air?

Dunno, it's another one of those things about the game that just seemed "off" after just a few hours of play.

I've been playing it and it's kept my interest, granted the car physics is a little awkward(hit a tree going 10mph and go flipping out like crazy), the aiming isn't that precise...and there's no sense of danger when you're on those card missions(I just charge them club them, subdue, murder everyone else and extract). all and all when you randomly call a precision strike on a random building and see it crumble...it's worth it.

I've been toying around with blowing up each headquarters and seeing the results...but the punisher game has my attention right now. I mean I'm sure the hqs regen after a load but what happens if you blow up all the faction hqs...but then do I want to blow up someone who's voiced by apollo creed?

all and all it's a fun experience also sometimes very ridiculous(point blank shot by a RPG and I just stand around?)

I'd say this is a rent...and then buy with a price drop

by the way I'm playing as mattais who are you guys play as

I assume if you play as mui(the girl), the asiatic languages gets subbed instead of the <speaking in asian langauge> you would get as mattais.

maybe I'm just weird but I find it hilarious that the chinese troops speak a mix of mandarin and cantonese.

edit: I ain't hug and kiss nobody in this game fool!

Ah man...It's the best..I've racked in so many hours with this game already.
I've wrote so much about this game in my What game/s are you Playing? Daily check :) thread..(lots of info)

It's all I keep playing..

It's awesome,I love it...I've already finished the game and if you continue after the credits the game continues.(forcing the credits through)
You now can play it with a better arsenal of weapons and vehicles at your disposal.(game has two maps/areas)

I notice that after completion of this game and continuing if you look at the captured deck of 52 members in your PDA.
The lower cards are all caught (marked off)but the higher up(bosses) are not caught.
Maybe they are relocated or harder around this time..the game feels harder the second time around.
Plus you still do have to locate the lower cards as you are playing the game through again..

I'm still finding the Bounty items and doing the Challenges..
There is more then one way to complete a challenge(some of them)Helicopters help..

More vehicles are available as you progress.

Give me a Helicopter,Sniper Rifle,RPG and I'm set...I use Mattais..

It has it's glitches that I've ran into here and there and problems.(got stuck/my fault).that I have overlooked..
I find the game to be fun...I'm used to it's default control method so I didn't have to get used to anything or change anything..

I do see some resemblance to GTA but I feel the things they used are needed.(what else would they have done/without these need similarities the game would suck)...I like the fact that I can snatch the guy out of car/tank/vehicle and take it..You don't always get away without a fight-shot at..(You can buy vehicles too)

Sneaking up to a shooting at you tank and taking it isn't easy.
When a Helicopter comes low enough and I snatch the guy out of it and take it's so sweet!!....

I love the free roam whereas I'm not stuck-forced to do linear must do right now missions..I can go run around all day and blow stuff up/Patrol/Help in these little battles that go on (out of missions)/fly around..Snipe enemies,Blow shit up,Blow more shit up..
I come rolling down a road and all hell is breaking loose..Do I help or split..

Within missions I can blow other stuff up too,on the way..

Sure you have to do the missions to progress but I can find a dozen ways to do them(I do),then if I find a way that's too easy or hard I can.Cancel the Contract and do it again..
I find some really creative ways to do the missions.. :D
One of the main things I love to do is figure out ways to do the missions differently..Harder and Easier.

I personally don't sit and compare it to GTA..Most of the time I'm playing it my Son's playing GTA SA on the left TV at the same time.
It's a game in itself.
I don't want to compare everything I buy to GTA..I got tired of comparing everything to Halo(two games that I love)

The game plays well and is fun..what ideas were used/copied was for the better..

Now if you didn't like the GTA's gameplay or GTA's then you may want to pass on this one...if your going to compare.
I'd go into playing it without thinking of GTA..(that is possible)

Cheats are available at Gamefaqs.

Hmm...sounds like somebody fudged the numbers (ah, too bad we still live in a time when it's necessary). How does the jeep compare to the tank as far as knocking into things?

On that note...I still think running into cows in Streets of Sim City is the funniest thing ever. :)
