Ive just been getting into the Wonderswan. Any collectors have any good websites or anything where I can get some more info on the handheld?

Sadly, no. There aren't many good web pages with reviews or anything. I believe Bandai's web page has a list of all the games with screenshots, but no English description. That can be useful to see what genre a game is, though.

I've got a Wonderswan Color and a Swancrystal. I have the following B&W Games:
Puzzle Bobble
Crazy Climber
Rainbow Island: Putty's Party
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Rockman and Forte
Robot Wars Compact 2: Volume 1
Robot Wars Compact 2: Volume 2
Robot Wars Compact 2: Volume 3

... and the following color ones:
Judgement Silversword
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy IV
Romancing SaGa
Arc the Lad
Guilty Gear Petite 2
Front Mission
Dicing Knight

If you have questions about any of those games, I'd be happy to answer them.

There are LOTS of Wonderswan collectors here!

About two months ago there was a very popular thread called "Project Wonderswan" where we got a bunch of these collectors together to work out the details for our online database.

We have yet to work out rarity and the descriptive info, but the list itself is sound and there are many entries with screenshots and box scans, all courtesy of various DP forum members. You'll also start seeing game reviews in our review section soon as we'lre playing the heck out these during our research.

Awesome! Thanks!

I was wondering if any of you collectors could tell me a little bit about the handheld? I mean is it worth the $60? Keep in mind I dont speak any japanese, but geez, the games look so good! LOL

Well, my initial impression was like yours. I thought "Wow, look at all those handheld RPGs!" I don't speak Japanese, either, but I thought I could download online translation guides and play the games via those. And at first that's what I did. I got a couple Final Fantasy games and Romancing SaGa, and started playing them. Well, I got tired of that pretty quickly. It just isn't much fun.

So as far as RPGs go, I'd forget it. The only one that's really playable without knowing Japanese is Front Mission. All the menus are in English, although the dialog is in Japanese.

For non RPGs, the Wonderswan does have quite a few games to offer. The one I'd recommend the most is Judgement Silversword. It's a vertical shooter, probably the best handheld one you can find. It's the only one that works in tate mode, too. It reminds me a bit of Zanac. Only problem is that the game had a limited printing, and now it's very hard to find.

Dicing Knight is good, too. It's sort of like Zelda crossed with a random dungeon crawler. The few menus it has are in english, so it's easy to play.

Puzzle Bobble is Bust a Move, only in B&W. The bubbles are differentiated by the pattern inside them, making it harder to play than a color version. Everything's nice and big, though, because you play on the screen sideways.

Crazy Climber is... Crazy Climber. Good port, considering it's black and white.

Rainbow Island: Putty's Party, is pretty much Rainbow Island (of the Bubble Bobble series). It has similar level designs, but it's not really a port of an older game. The only downside is that it isn't in color.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is good, too. It has slowdown, much like the SNES one, but playable nonetheless. The GBA version is probably better, though.

Rockman and Forte sucks. Avoid it, even though it's playable.
