View Full Version : Am I the only person who bought the Karaoke for TurboDuo?

I bought a TurboDuo when they first came out (actually traded in my tg-16 for $50 off from NEC). I was very curious when they announced a Karaoke player that was compatible with the TurboDuo (was basically compatible with any CD+G player and any TV that had 2 sets of A/V inputs). Anyways, I was at the Summer Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago in '93 or '94 when they introduced the thing at the TTI booth. I thought that thing was the bomb and later ended up ordering one from a mail-order company. I still have it and have used it at many events and xmas parties. I was just wondering if I was the only idiot who purchased one back in the day, heh. I haven't heard of anyone else that had one.

hey, if you've used it for many events and parties then buying it was a smart move... you're no dummy.

And yes it seems you are the only one who has one... except Joe maybe and few other hard-core collectors:)

Cheers

Rare TG-16 peripherals = big bucks.

Today's lesson: Get into your DeLorean, hit 88 mph and go back in time...back in time to the 1980s, and pick up all the cool shit you can't get no more. LOL

Anyways, I was at the Summer Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago in '93 or '94 when they introduced the thing at the TTI booth.

I was working the TTI Booth at that paticular CES. I still have my white satin TTI bonk jacket (I wonder what that ugly thing is worth). I wasn't too impressed with the karaoke machine, but looking back on it I wish I'd bought one and kept it new in box.

That's awesome. I really miss the SCES as i really wish they would have stayed in Chicago. I know I don't remember you from the event, but I remember every employee forcing Bonk buttons on me. I think I ended up with like 40 bonk buttons from the even (there were like 6 different varieties). I rememeber there was a DJ guy singing on the thing and I walked up to see what it was all about and he gave me a mic and we both were singing. heh, I had to make myself look like a jackass as I'm no American Idol...lmao.

Since you worked for TTI...did you know a guy named Scott Bradley? He used to send me free crap in the mail all the time.

Not personally, he worked a different shift than me.

Mostly offtopic, but does anyone know the proper name, going price, and non-JP hardware compatability of the "mega cd karaoke unit" or whatever it is? I'm determined to make the biggest sega cluster machine possible.

I took a few pics of the jacket but am having problems uploading them. I'll post them tomorrow morning/afternoon.
Also, since I haven't seen the jacket in years, I thought it was a bonk jacket but it turns out that it's an air zonk jacket. I hope that doesn't disappoint anyone.

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone have the karaoke addon for the MegaDrive? I'd love to have one, but I assume they're hideously expensive now. I wouldn't even know where to look for one besides ebay, and I'd assume that they're all in Japan, so trying to import one must be a big pain.

Awesome Jacket, Time for me to save to get a Turbo-RX. There was also some weird/cool add-ons:
PC-Engine Mouse, Duo Intelligent Link (A device that would allow you to hook the Duo up to your computer and use it as a CD-ROM.), PC Engine Memory Base 128, and the Power Console:

Awesome pics and info on the NEC consoles (http://www.turbo2k.net)
