Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any 3D games that play a bit like Streets of Rage. Im in desperate need to beat up some 'punks'.

Thanks in advance,

Joe. :)

"Gauntlet Legends" worked for me.

It's not exactly like SOR but it did give me my "beat up baddies" fix.

While its not 3D you might try "Beats of Rage" a homebrew tribute to the Streets of Rage series.

One of my favorites is Fighting Force on the PlayStation. Great stuff. They ruined the Dreamcast sequel, however.

On the Dreamcast there's Dynamite Cop! and Zombie Revenge, both pretty good but short games.

Lagging a little behind I'd put Gekido for PlayStation and Die Hard Arcade for Dreamcast.

There are a bunch of them in this current era as well, I'll let someone else manage those.

Gekido, PS One.

MK Special Forces, PS One

Bouncer, PS2

Die Hard Arcade is on the Saturn, not the DC.

Gladiator, Multi?

I was about to suggest Dynamite Cop m'self. It's a fun, wacky game with over-the-top violence and a cheesy action flick feel. Hairspray + lighter = deadly weapon.

Die Hard Arcade Saturn
Fighting Force 1 and 2 PSX
Fighting Force 64- N64 (Nice 4 player mode)

I'd say Zombie Revenge kind of qualifies for this genre, even though it's a beat-em-up/shooting game. But for the DC, it's a damn good game.

How is the original fighting force? I played the sequel on DC and it made me physically ill from its suckiness.

Does Viewtiful Joe count as a 3D beat-em-up? Maybe 2 1/2 D. Either way, it rocks.

They're totally different games. If you like games like Die Hard Arcade and Dynamite Cop you'll feel right at home with the original Fighting Force.

If you are into not-so-great games, you might try the new Ninja Turtles games.

Fighting Force was fun, but I hated how the last boss was. SPOILER:When I walked into that last ballroom type place, I just walked up to the guy and started punching him as I S....L....O....W....L....Y cut down his HP until he just died. Then it was over. That pissed me off.

Spike Out/Slash Out? (Slash Out was never released on the DC for some reason, though; it's arcade only.)

James Camerons: Dark Angel PS2 was a lot of fun and very much like SOR. (The Jessica Alba one...not the vampire one)

I'll definitely second (or third or whatever we're up to) Zombie Revenge for the Dreamcast. I love that game, and I'm a HUGE 2D beat-em-up fan.

I mostly liked the new TMNT also. My in-depth review of that game is on the site if you want to read it :)

While I don't really recommend it, I guess Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu also qualifies for this category.

not good but still falls into this category:

Charlies Angels (Cube)
Both current-gen Turtles games

I got some for my cube:

Charlies Angels (like Hydrox said)
Gauntlet (if that counts)
Hunter - The Reckogning
Turtles
Conan (more action-adventure but all u basicly do is hacking enemies)
Knights of the temple (see Conan)
Batman--Rise of the Sin Tzu (pure beat'em up....good one too.Get this)
Buffy-Chaos Bleeds
The Scorpion King (see Conan)

for N64:

Fighting Force 64 (great in 4 player mode)

Cannon Spike for Dc is cool. I know it is not the best beat em up around, but, it is beat using Capcom characters.

The Bouncer for PS2 is another one. Made by Square. More movie than game play.

Rise to Honor for the PS2 has a SOR vibe to it.

These side-scrolling-fighting games are one of my favorite genre.
Too bad they have stopped making them so to say. Today 95% of all new games sux, too bad :(

Yeah, if a game doesn't involve a gun floating in the bottom center of the screen or have a bunch of people doing something with a ball, it is pretty much not "marketable."

It's not 3D, but Guardian Heroes for Saturn has some of the best gameplay in the genre. Multi-plane action, branching paths, excellent characters who are truly different enough from each other to inspire multiple playthroughs, and RPG elements that add a bit of strategy and addictiveness to the mix. Great stuff.

I also need to give props to Zombie Revenge on DC. It truly is like a beat 'em up version of House of the Dead.

I really didnt like "Zombies Revenge", i thought the control was sluggish and clunky. Getting shot by a zombie for the 3rd time in a row because its difficult to do an evade move is really annoying. I even tried playing it again after i got somewhat good with "Dynamite Cop 2" and i still thought ZR's controls were crappy.

Dynamite Cop is pretty damn fun, i especially like the wacky weapons you can beat up people with (sushi, rolls, vacuume cleaner).
