I want this movie, but not that bad. Even on regular auctions it goes for at least 25, dooky cheeks :(

That's because it's been out of print for a while now. Doesn't look like it'll see a re-release anytime soon either. Has kind of a cult status too, so it's always in demand. 'Cube bootlegs are pretty common on Ebay though and much cheaper, so get one of those if you wanna see the movie bad enough.

I've seen this in thrifts many many times (VHS) and have never been tempted to get it. Maybe if someone here is interested I'll put it on my pick up list...

I always hated this movie but my friend loves it. Once were out shopping for dvd's after he got his player in '99 and he picked up Gleaming The Cube off the shelf. I told him how much I hated the movie and that I'll make fun of him if he bought it. He got something else instead.

About a year ago, my friend saw how much it was selling for on Ebay and got totally pissed at me for not letting him buy it. Now he'll probably never be able to afford a copy. LOL

Why does the same seller have the same movie up, in the same sealed condition, in two different auctions, with such a drastic price different between the two? $99 vs $53 what's the difference there?

Hopefully they will do another run of that movie on DVD, and then you will be able to get it for $10 or whatever. That's what happened to the movie Kickboxer. It used to sell for $50+ on ebay, and then they did a re issue and now it sells for next to nothing.

Maybe one is a bootleg and the other is legit?

Perhaps, but both auctions state they are sealed region 1 discs. Maybe the lot of 5 that are $53 each are suppose to be boots, but the seller forgot to change the auction description. :hmm:

When I was in high school I won tickets on the radio to this movie. I also won a poster and a t-shirt which I displayed proudly. Thrashin', another cult skate movie, was released on DVD the same time Breakin' and Breakin' II: Electric Boogaloo were (picked all three up the same day). I have Gleaming the Cube on VHS but also missed out on the DVD until prices skyrocketed. Maybe I'll transfer my VHS over to a DVD one of these days.

Hmmm, Penny arcade referenced this a long time ago, to this day I refer to my Gamecube gaming time as "Gleaming the Cube" I never knew this movie existed!
