View Full Version : DigitalPress jacked my 3do games!

motley6
01-26-2005, 05:29 AM
Oh man it was like $30 throughout the majority of the auction and I hoped and prayed that all the 3do collectors just missed it. I naively thought that I had found a secret auction that I was going to win for like $50. But low and behold DigitPress came and stole it from me for a grand price of $171. Congratulations you rich bastard. In return for jacking my secret auction you will have to give us a full report on all the games you got and reviews as to expand our limited knowledge on Japanese 3do games. Out.

I don't exactly understand why you're criticizing dp when there seems to be a ton of bids by various people at the end, but whatever. The games do look quite interesting....wonder what's in there?

I am not criticizing him, you fucktard. I was obviously being sarcastic. I am glad he got them because he will be able to share the knowledge because Japanese 3do games are not well documented on the internet. Some people are so dense......

I understood your sarcasm, but there's no need to actually get hostile now.

On another note, I sometimes wonder if collecting causes more grief to me than satisfaction. Everyone wants what I want and has more money.

Hey Joe, if there's a Battle Pinball in there, would you please sell it to me?

Hollenscythe

At least there is the consolation that Joe will put the knowledge gained for those games for all to share. Better to lose to him than most people. Still, I bet it burns - better luck next time, eh?

Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet, quite obviously.
But I think "fucktard" and "dense" come through pretty loud and clear. Easy with tossing around insults.

Good call. There seems to be a lot of that going on around here lately. Gamefaqs is bleeding over to DP unfortunately. They already killed the forum over at Shmups.com :/

As for Joe winning the auction, good for him. When you have a collection as large as his, there aren't all many things that can catch your eye the way a nice lot of Japanese 3DO games can.

Hey, motley6 is alright. And dude, sorry for stomping on the auction. I do EVERYTHING these days via esnipe.com so I don't know what the auction is going like. I put my bid in figuring $5 per game would be my max and it looks like that was good enough.

I have a realy good collection of 3DO imports already so my full intention was to fill in the ones that I need from this lot and sell or trade the rest. Someone asked about Battle Pinball which I alerady own, so if it's in this lot I'd be happy to sell or trade it.

Our DP Guide crew is a little weak in the 3DO department so its been my job to do the research. We have the first complete import list that I know of online here, completely built from scratch but there are so many details that need to be filled. So I do tend to jump on 3DO eBay imports. Let's not forget that it was your pal Joe who cracked the code on Virtual Cameraman and even grabbed screenshots of many previously undocumented Japanese 3DO games!

Example!
http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=163248

I'll let ya's know what's in there when the package arrives and you can count on the database getting just a little bit better as well.

Is it just me or the site is getting more trolls these days, seems like kids nowadays don't learn manners very well, I recommend motley6 banned. I see this all over game forums, which kills the enjoyment of the hobby greatly.

01-26-2005, 12:24 PM
Not to rub it in anymore Motley, but you didn't bid all that high. Joe won the auction with only a little more than $4 a game bid. To me that seems like a great deal.
I do know how you feel when you think that you are the only one watching a really nice auction, but 90% of the time there are 10 people that feel the same way about that auction. LOL
If I were you I would apoligize for insulting Hellvin, because you don't want to start out on the wrong foot do you? Just some friendly advice.

Don't fall for Joe's e-snipe story. The truth is that Joe puts spyware on your computer when you become a DP member. Then he makes sport of following various members' online activities, including of course eBay activities.

I have seen him do this in person. He sits at his computer giggling, sweating, and slobbering, saying stuff like "No Mighty Magnor, you are not winning that today!" When he actually wins the auction at the final millisecond, he laughs uncontrollably, and sometimes rolls around on the floor.

Sometimes I will be at my computer at home, browsing the Saturn items on Gooddealgames, and suddenly a PM mysteriously pops up

"So, Kid Ice, do you think $11 is a good price for Astal? In your collection that will come alphabetically between Andretti Racing and Bug!"

He seems to delight in going into these specific details. It does kind of creep me out.

There is really no software solution to this invasion. Your only hope is to make your online activities as uninteresting to Joe as possible (any site that involves "learning" or "education" would be a good start) and never use eBay on the computer you used to register yourself on DP.

Esnipe is for wimps. What I do is hire a group of thugs to travel with me and physically visit each person who bids against me. Using muscle as persuasion, I make my opposition retract their bids one-by-one until I am indeed the winner.

And while we're there we drink all their milk, too. Straight from the jug.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to harass each other harmlessly about bids and stuff. And the initial post seemed quite positive. I hope that guy isn't banned, because of his defensive response to a defensive response. Plus I like the work fu(ktard.

Seems kind of like a reasonable deal for DP. And I hope that he can write it off as a business expense for the guide.

Ive been through this before...just ignore it. There will always be people waiting in the shadows to jump out and pick your posts apart. You cant really argue with 10 people. Each one of them is going to find one thing in your post to cry about + theyll all agree with one another. Not trying to be a junior mod here, (god knows we have enough of them) , Just, does this really need it's own topic in the VG forum?

It may be time to revise the forum FAQ. I need to add "Please do not be a junior moderator. We have enough capable moderators here already. If you find yourself saying 'you shouldn't have said that', please don't."

What's amazing about this whole ordeal is when I said criticizing (I dunno, bad word choice I GUESS) was the fact that all I meant was the auction was never his in the first place. It could have gone to:

fasteddie1986
haileycandy

...but dp put in a smart bid and won.

It's ebay. It's viewed by multitudes of people and almost all of them snipe. None-the-less, I'm looking foward to some reviews on the games. ;D

On a semi-related note, someone recently stole all my candy and left a SMB/Duck Hunt cart as "compensation", naturally I suspected Digital Press & Co. had more than a little to do with this unfortunate incident.

I guess now the only thing left to decide is whether to burn it outright, or send it to MarioAllStar as a nice coaster to accompany his one-of-a-kind table.
