Help me gamers!!!!! I need gift ideas for my SO! What would be an awesome gift for the gamer who seems to have everything? Classic atari is pretty much his favorite thing in the world and I don't know enough to make an educated decision. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! Post any suggestions and why you think they are cool! I really appreciate all posts! :D :D

If I'm not mistaken, ebay sells gift certificates now. That would be a good gift for someone who's into Atari loot.

Storage space...the gamer who seems to have everything usually lacks only for a place to put everything. A nice shelving unit or game rack would be appreciated I'd guess...good luck!

i read somewhere that if someone is a huge fan of something, get them something completely unrealated, because the probably dont want what you would get them, or already have it

example: you dont buy golfers new golf clubs, because chances are they will just return it and get one that feels good for them, not something that you picked out

try and find something unique or personal, but maybe stay away from their biggest hobby

Messiah Entertainment wireless controllers \^_^/

Available for NES and SNES. Also, keep watch for the Genny and 2600 wireless controllers in the "I hope not to distance" future!

That is assuming your SO is into these consoles and plays them enough to actually get some use of of them.

I was thinking the same thing. How about a nice book?

For what it's worth, I have specifically told my fiance never to buy me anything game related unless I specifically ask for it. Part of me just feels like a big nerd if she spends her money on that stuff for me, but mainly it's because I'm pretty good at buying the things I actually want myself. :)

Just my 2 cents.

I'm going to second the Storage suggestion...

As we always said in sales...

A gift for the person who has everything? Something to put it all in..

My personal opinion is that IF they know you want something real bad, and can find it, go ahead and get it. If you really just want some obscure gaming stuff... leave it to yourself to find. I have never goten a single game or game-related thing from my GF (thats Xmas, Bdays, etc for 4 years now), BUT she has told me that if there was something that i never stopped talking about for weeks on end, she may get it for me... but only if she knew i really wanted it and would use it rather than put it into the collection to never see again.

Case in point: I talked and talked and talked about hwo I wanted a vintage Vancouver Canucks jersey for a month... and last christmas, I got one from her. Now... Ijust gotta go on and on about a Neo Geo

So yeah... stay away from games unless he/she makes a big deal about a particular item of interest

A set of Atari 2600 tube socks.

And where exactly would I find Atari 2600 tube socks?

I've always wished I could receive a BJ while playing Q3A or Halo deathmatch. I can't talk my wife into it.

Anyway, you could make a gift certificate with such an offer on it.

Somebody on these forums sells videogame clocks for a very reasonable price. Do a search to try and find a topic on it.
If he never comes to DP chances are he doesent have one
(there are Atari clocks as well)
Or if he collectrs games the Digital Press Collectors Guide (classic not advanced) would be perfect for an atari collector.
Good luck!

Yeah, he'd like that. Isn't gonna happen though, he'd bug me about it anytime another holiday/gift exchange opportunity came up. LOL

He'd probably start looking for new holidays.

"Hey honey, it's Harry Truman's birthday! Let's celebrate!"

Well, what do they collect, in general? If they've only got newer stuff, then they probably aren't interested in Atari 2600 gear.

Are they more of a gamer, or more of a collector?

What's your price range?

Hey, these are pretty cool. Now, how do I decide which would be best?

Still thinking about the tube socks. I thought he could pull a Red Hot Chili Peppers wardrobe manuever with those.

He collects old stuff, predominantly atari. Collector and gamer. Not sure of price range--there are several gift opportunities coming up in the next few months.

You got some Atari 2600 stuff you're looking to unload?

Hmm

Would a 20 year old home made plastic canvas and yarn Atari 2600 cartridge holder for 10 carts that someones Grandmother made count as collectible?

I've personally got nothing, I don't really collect anything pre-NES.

Store Display/Promo stuff is always cool.

Also, on ebay right now, there are these cheap neon signs (not actually neon, you'll see what I mean). Just search for "Atari, sign", and you might find them. They glow blue, and there's probably an Atari one (there's one for everything else).

My friend got the PS2 one, and it looks PRO. Fantastic thing for a game room.
