the original question was THE END OF NINTENDO? or some crap like that and this was my response:
Ive been gaming since the old atari 2600 days and have seen many "video game" companies come and go or at least try thier hand at developing/producing thier own consoles/games including NEC,3DO and so on. its just the nature of the video game industry as it is with so many others car manufacturers etc.
The fact is no matter how much I like the big N and relish every new METROID and Zelda release I dont see them making anymore consoles after the Revolution unless they create some type of PS2 launch hype to make a turnaround and sell more units at a higher volume to more of the mass of casual gamers and less to the hardcore.
Im a very open minded gamer when it comes to consoles my Philoshpy is this: if a game system has the games that interest you as a gamer or has the franchises that you most enjoy then buy it and enjoy it no matter what is the most popular or "in" thing is at the time, you will be a happier gamer in the end.
In all honesty though I think the GC may very well be my last Nintendo system for many reasons; one of them being that Nintendo is aleinating itself from the rest of the industry for reasons I simply cannot comphrehend.
I think they will stay successful as far as handhelds go I mean the truth is that the DS has sold incredibly well and there plenty of room on the market for both DS and PSP.
I think that Nintendos console making days are numbered.
the days of Nintendo/Sega/NEC/Atari are long gone and have been numbered ever since Sony entered the market not becuase they have always had the best hardware but becasue of the $$ factor small gaming companies like Sega and Nintendo who made video games popular again after the crash of '84 simply cannot compete against large corporations like Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo is the last holdout of what once was a small "geek" hobby and now has become an incredibly large a Lucrative mass market way too large for the time being for a company like Sony or Microsoft to walk away from.
but believe me if the revenues stopped piling in you would see both Sony and Microsoft hit the exit door faster than you can say SEGA!
