I did... hell, I had it before I was born, something that I say a lot. Twas meant for my brother while me mum was pregnant with I, but I adapted to it rather fast. Maybe not immediately after exiting the womb, but I've been playing on the NES since I was about two years old. This is the console that sucked me in to the universe of video games, and I want to know if anyone else had the NES as their first console system ever. :)

The nes was my first console. Sure, I played atari (5200 version) at a relatives house before, but the nes was the system in our family. Boy did it get lots of use. We bought the power set (power pad included) and had tons of fun playing all 3 games. I couldn't even guess how much money was spent just renting games, especially strategy and rpgs, for weeks at a time. Though my parents never got into gaming, many a night was spent playing jeopardy between all of us. I made money those nights too, dad would give me pocket change to run downstairs and get him a fresh beer LOL good times, good times.

I did. Almost got a 2600 but didn't. The NES was my first real experience with home gaming. Before that I used to go to the arcade a lot.

it was my first system as well. I had two younger brothers so we were only allowed to play 2 player games. we only had a handful of games and we took turns picking the game we played. we used to close our eyes and "surprise" each other with each game, my brother's fav game was winter games....damn that was a boring game.

Not me. I had an Atari 2600 (Coleco Gemini in fact) and did not have a NES of my own until a couple of years ago. However, this doesn't mean I had no exposure to the console, as I spent countless hours at my best friend's house, playing on the Nintendo with him.

NES was my first console, though my first video game was a Donkey Kong Hockey Game & Watch. Dad bought a used NES from a friend at work, along with Skate or Die and Contra. I got Super Mario Bros. for my 4th birthday (and the picture to prove it)

It was my first system. I got it when my dad worked for Pepsi. He came with about 6 (i think) brand new systems. We kept one and gave one to a friend of ours. My parents then sold the remaining ones at a garage sale for about $50. I wish they would have atleast kept one of those so I could have an unopened NES today.

Christmas '87 (or was it '88) is forever etched in my memory. My first videogame system was a NES along with SMB, Legend of Zelda, Metroid and.... and.... and....T&C SURF DESIGNS!

Actually, for parents that were completely clueless to videogames, I'm shocked they ended up picking Zelda and Metroid. They must have had some help from the store staff. That last pick no doubt had something to do with the Skateboarding phase I was going through at the time.

I got mine for Christmas around 1987. I didn't even know what one was. Surely enough I got hooked on it. Most of my fond childhood memories involve the NES in some way.

I had an Atari 2600 that I bought at a garage sale for like $5. It came with a ton of games, but rarely worked, and I don't think I EVER played it (mainly because it didn't work well, and the games I had sucked!)

Because of this, I consider the NES my first system. It was the only system during my childhood that I really loved and gave me so many great memories. I guess that is why I'm so obsessed with it today. I got in 1988 I believe.

I got my NES when I was six. My aunt was a gamer and got me involved. I can still remember my parents trying to play it, too. Thems were the days.

The NES was my first console. My mom bought me the action set in 1988 because she didn't want to take me to the arcade.

Here are the games I owned:

SMB/DH
Bump 'N Jump
Kings Of The Beach
Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers
TMNT II: The Arcade Game
Super Mario Bros. 3

Along with that, my cousin would often bring over some of his games and let me borrow them, including Zelda 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden II, the first TMNT, Rocket Ranger, Double Dragon II, Batman, Wolverine, Blaster Master, and Crystalis.

I had that NES until sometime in the mid 90's. By that time my brother and I had pretty much shifted to the SNES and Genesis and we decided to sell the NES off at a yard sale. I do miss the NES, and one of these days I'll probably make some room so I can get another one.

I had a couple different models of 2600 early on I think, but NES was a close second-ish. After that, Genesis! never did get a sega cd....UNTIL TODAY!! My childhood is now further avenged.

The first console in our household was the Atari 2600. My oldest brother bought that one, and he also bought the NES. The first I bought was a SNES.

It was my first system. A lot of my friends had 2600's and NES's of their own, but I bought the NES mainly for Mario. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES NINTENDO!!!! :)

It was my first console.

I definitely recall it not being the standard action set though, because my Mario cart was just Mario, no duck hunt.

First two games were Mario and Sqoon. I think we also may have picked up a Zapper gun (gray one, actually) and Hogan's Alley.

Does anyone know if the gray Zapper was ever sold by itself? I'm trying to figure out what combination of system set/stuff I had back then.

If I remember right, it was the Christmas of 1986 when I got one (I was two). It was really originally for my sister, but I played it enough that it was also considered mine. First game, like most other NES players, was Super Mario Bros., but I also remember that the first game that I personally bought for it was The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (and I still have it!) :D

My earliest memories in life is of my dad & mom playing the NES, and how I could'nt beat 1-2 in SMB.

But, after 2 days of intensive training I was able to beat my dad... but I did'nt beat the entire game until like 10 years later :P

NES was my first console. I got it for Christmas 1989, I was 5 years old [almost 6] In retrospect, this was right near the end of the NES's life [that was the christmas the Genesis came out, I suppose I could have skipped 8 bit all together].

I wasn't even aware of the Genesis until 3rd grade, everyone I knew had an NES as well. By then, though, I was into PC games, as my NES didn't work very well [It really just needed to be cleaned, but I didn't know that]. I got back into console gaming when I got a Genesis in 4th grade [Christmas 1993], stayed with it through the Saturn in 7th grade [Christmas 1996], got burned and stayed out of consoles until I got an Xbox in 12th grade [Christmas 2001].

Yup, first system ever. It was either Christmas of 1988 or 1989, making me either 5 or 6.

I was a very happy little tot. I got of course the pack-in game Mario/Duck Hunt, as well as Mario 2. For a good couple months, those were the only games I had, but I didn't care. I loved them to death.

I think my next game was Zelda 2... which my older brother picked out. Never did finish it, and unfortunately I'm not particularly attached to the game these days. After that though, I just kept getting more, and I haven't looked back.

Sadly, I don't remember what I did for fun before I got an NES. Watch paint dry for all I know.

Actually it was my 4th, in order

Atari 2600
SNES
N64
Then my NES.
So on and so forth. (I'm not going to list them all.)

I'm sad I missed out on the NES for the longest time. It's my favorite of the latter systems.

Although the first console I played on was a 2600, the first console I owned (well, my parent's bought it :)) was a NES.

The first day we got it (with the alltime classic Mario Bros/Duckhunt and a Zapper) I remember playing for several hours straight. It was awesome 8-)

My first system was a US NES as well. 2nd came an 8bit famicom then a sega master system. I owe it all to the good ol' NES. It's funny how it all comes full circle too. My current system of choice today is the 8bit famicom. So it gets all my current gaming and collecting attention. Aaaaah the classic goodness!

I'm proud to say the NES was my first console. I still have my original machine but sadly I've lost most of my games (I've lent them to a "friend" who never returned them), including stuff like boxed, Turtles, Contra, Castlevania, Bubble Bobble and other stuff I love. I still get angry when I think about it...

I don't now when I exactly got my NES and which package it was (I think it was the console and two pads without any game included). All I remembe is that it was when my mom got a payment from an assurance because our cave was flooded.

It was my first console, my uncle got it for my sister and I back in 86. It was the Mario, Duck Hunt, World Class Track meet set. I played that thing to DEATH. My faves were (and still are): All the Mario's of course, Bionic Commando, Wizards and Warriors, Snake Rattle and Roll, ZELDA, man really a hell of a lot. Sadly, when the SNES came out my mon said the only way i would get it for christmas, was if i gave it to some family friends kids. Well i agreed (i was in 3rd grade and i wanted an SNES!) and it went to the family friends. They ended up selling it and some of the games at a garage sale. About 6 years ago they came across the games they didnt sell and gave them to me. But i have already replaced the NES (Still have the SNES) with a complete Action Set off of Ebay.

Yep, the NES was my very first console, and only console until something like 96-97 when I finally got a SNES. I got my NES in 1987-88 for christmas and got Zelda II, Life Force, Top Gun, Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, and some other game that I can't quite remember. Man that was teh best christmas ever.

ahh yes....my first console was my lovely NES.acutelly my parents bought it for me since i couldn't play any sports, or do a lot of activities when i was young (for any doctors out there i had to have a transpostion of the the main ateries at age 2, so i was to say the least very active when i was young). and that system still stays ontop of my entertaiment stand, and forever will be my fav. system. :D

NES was #3 for me, Odyssey2 and Atari 2600 being #1 and #2, respectively. NES was the first console I paid for myself though -- the others were gifts.

Got my NES in '87 or '88 (can't remember exactly). It was the el cheapo set that came with just the console, control pads, and Super Mario Bros. Didn't have a Zapper, but I didn't care -- as long as I had SMB, I was happy.

Yup, the NES was my first console. I received at the tail end of the summer of 1987 at the age of 11.

My sister did however have an Atari 2600 VCS. I never really played it too much though and the only games I really remember were Lock & Chase, Pac-man, and....ET. I just remember hating the joysticks on the Atari. To this day I think the NES digital pad is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Im old my first Game system was the Atari 2600 but I didnt catch my videogame addiction until I got my NES one very blossomy special Xmas LOL I remember my older cousin hooking it up for me and practically the entire family tried out SuperMario bros.

All this on a High-tech 13inch COLOR X_x TV.

I remember telling my friends how awesome the graphix were and how it killed anything on the old Atari 8-) feels like a hundred years ago.

RCA Studio II was our family's first, sometime during 1984 or so when the thing was completely and totally a bargain-bin item. We got it from our next-door neighbors' garage sale, after they had upgraded to an Atari 2600. (And the neighbor across the street had an Intellivision II, so I got a pretty good fix when I was young.)

Our NES Challenge Set (with SMB/Duck Hunt and a Zapper gun) came during 1987 - I don't remember exactly when, though I think it was during the fall, and on a school night even!

Dad picked up Ring King at the same time, thinking it'd be a game he might enjoy. As it turned out, he became the family instructor in all things related to shooting pixelated enemies/objects on a TV screen. (To this day, he still enjoys the occasional game of Time Crisis, but I have not yet introduced him to the joys of Virtua Cop on the Saturn - I need another gun for that first.)

Mom played a little SMB when we first got it, but never got any higher than 1-4 or so before falling to Bowser's minions. At which point we'd gladly take over...

Then came the Genesis in 1991 (with Sonic and Quackshot), followed at regular intervals by whatever system my brother and I deemed worthy of acceptance.

Now I embrace everything, of course, but our original NES toaster still holds a prized place in my room o' doom.

Yes, the NES was my first system. I actually remember being HELD while we were inside the store buying an NES with Super Mario Bros. (I'm 18 now). I think my mom also said I used to freak out at certain points in SMB and asked my brother to get past the hard parts.

More stuff I remember:

The first time I ever played Tetris, it was Tengen Tetris at my mom's friend's house. I realized this years later (after I had started collecting) when I played Nintendo Tetris and noticed the difference

My dad playing SMB3 in the middle of the night and getting excited because he reached Giant World before anyone else

Getting a Super Nintendo for Christmas with SMW (and having no idea how to turn it on)

Good times
