I found a copy of Amazing Island (for Gamecube) hidden in a dark corner of the local Hastings. It's brand new, but has a 75% off sticker on it (clearance), which ends up as $10. Is it worth it? I'm certainly not interested in playing the game, so it doesn't qualify as a "It's only $10 and you'll play it anyway" game.

I've never seen this game before, so I assume it's at least uncommon. Is it worth picking up?

I've been wondering about this too. I don't think it's all that rare, but I also don't think it's very common, either. I've seen a copy or two around, but no more. If I were going for a complete set of GC titles, I'd pick it up. However, something tells me that it will be not all that hard to find. Still, for ten bucks you can take the risk.

I thought he said Adventure Island.

Either way, being the GameCube guy I am, no Amazing Island is not rare, it probably never will be. Yes it sold like crap, but a lot of these games sell like crap on the GameCube. Look at Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, it's pretty much the exact same type of game (heck it is also published by SEGA). I just don't see it ever having any sort of demand, it's just a colorful, cutesy kid game, nothing out of the ordinary.

Yet all that aside, it should be picked up for $10, I could see you making somewhat of a profit down the road. :)

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized that my post was a blantant thread-jacking. My apologies to Wavelflack, and DrJustinRamone if you could PM me or start a new thread regarding these price drops I'd be forever grateful.

I'll just post what I can remember here:

SNK vs Capcom Chaos (Xbox) - $29.99
Fight Club (ps2, Xbox) - $29.99
Sonic Heroes (ps2, Xbox, GCN) - $19.99

those, plus what I already mentioned are the only ones I can remember and were probably the highlights of what I recall was a short sheet anyway.

I know five places in my town where I can buy it brand new right now. That said, a cube game for $10 new is a steal.

I'd definately get it. Speaking of which, i'll probably go to my Hastings today and see if they have any clearanced. I managed to get Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament and Viewtful Joe (PS2) from them last week for $10 each.

Still, no substitute for the 4 for 1 trade changes. I weep for the loss of that deal.

I have to warn you, the game is excruciatingly painful to play and you'll read more text than you will actually play.

But I haven't seen it anywhere in stores so it could be rare in the future.
