Well, the first NES game I ever played was Contra at my Uncles house. Whenever we went over there, I would play the hell out of it, until I got my own NES. I ever told him 'The Code', I dont remember how I found it out then (Early 90's) but I loved using it.
I can bet that everyones answers will be Mario, but I'm still intrested.

My first NES exposure was prior to the NES' domestic release with their NES-based arcade games, stuff like Excitebike and Hogan's Alley. The Chuck E. Cheese I went to back then was owned by Nintendo so they had almost every Nintendo arcade game. Good times.

Super Mario Bros.
I was doing pretty bad at first. I couldn't get past the second pit in level 1-1. About an hour or so later, I finally figured out how to run and jump. I was 6 years old and pretty inexperienced with video games at the time, as the NES was my first console.

Mine was Super Mario Bros. Ahhh...remembering such simple times brings some great memories. I remember getting up at 4am when I got my NES to play it, lol.

Actually, besides Super Mario Bros., I played Gauntlet at one of my friend's house. It was espically fun, considering that he owned a multitap. Ah...

Gauntlet at a K-Mart kiosk. Later on I got to try several more games at my cousin's, Super Mario Bros., Contra, Cobra Triangle, Pac-Man.

I think it was Super Mario Bros. set up in a K-Mart, right by the checkout (!). This was in 1987; I didn't actually get one until 1990, while I had chicken pox. My mom actually picked up Metroid for me at a garage sale prior to me getting one-she had good taste :)

Super Mario Bros, in 1986, when I was six years old. Bowser scared the hell out of me. LOL

The first NES/Nintendo game i ever played was Goonies 1 on a Playchoice-10 in a Mac's store by my house. This was the selection that the PC-10 had:
-Castlevania
-SMB
-Goonies
-Excitebike
-Pro Wrestling
-Contra
-Kung Fu
-Rush 'N Attack
-Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!
-Rad Racer
I must have sunk enough quarters in that machine to single-handedly pay it off for the store owner. I was soooooo hooked. Look at that selection!

The first NES game that I ever played was R.C. Pro Am. My sisters and I received the system and game for Christmas. We stayed up until 2 A.M., long past our bedtime, playing it that night. Our parents caught us and grounded us from the NES for 2 weeks :(

I didn't get my own NES until 1988 (still got it too, same system, good durability), my first exposure was to SMB and Duck Hunt. I'd have my cousin rent Contra, and we'd get owned at the game, but my first time playing the system was at Sears. They'd have multiple carts put into one system and while my brother's would stroll the mall with friends, I'd go straight to Sears and play for hours, only leaving when the store had to shut down for the evening. Ah those were the good old days of gaming, days I'll never forget.

Super Mario Bros. here, and boy did I suck at it. A few hours of practice, and I eventually made it to world 1-2...

Ice Climber. Still remember that exact day and how I spent it amazed at a friends house, while his mum brought us snacks. Good times.

Like many other, SMB. Came with the set I got for like my 6 or 7 or 8 birthday, back in '87 I think. I also that day got Kung-Fu from my grandparents as well. (They also bought me the Nintendo set itself)

My Brother (21) got his Nes at a K-mart or something like that in like 89 or so.. I remember being 2 or 3 (now 13) sitting on his bed in his room playing pinball. It Rocked my socks off.

Can't remember if it was Super Mario Bros. or RC Pro Am. I remember getting NES for Christmas in first grade and the one game that I really wanted was RC Pro Am after seeing commercials for it. Don't know which one actually made it into the system first though.

I like all old games too, which were released to the launch of the NES here in germany.
"Small" games, but great fun.

Super Mario Bros. of course, but only because it was the only game in the house where I was living.
I did go out and rent "A Boy and His Blob" and that became the first game on the NES that I actually finished. (Followed by SMB)

My family was back in Cincinnati for my sister's wedding. I was visiting old friends from the neighborhood (we had recently moved from there to Philadelphia). It was at Mickey DeSilva's house and was the first time I had ever seen an NES. We played two games:
Kung-Fu
Gyromite (I got to control the poles!)

Then my family was hooked on Duck Hunt
I remember playing Duck Hunt when I was real young in the basement at my cousin's house, good times, no...great times :)

Super Mario Bros. was my first NES game that I ever played. I think I remembered playing it my mom's friend's place, as her two sons had an NES, and I would play it anytime she picked me up after AM Kindergarten. Once we got our NES, we were hooked. Took me and my older brother a while how to figure out how to get over the huge pit in level 8-1. Took me forever to get through the 7-4 dungeon, until I bought the NES Game Atlas.

I'm ashamed to say but I really have a hard time to remember. I know I've got my NES after my mom got some money from an assurance but I can't remember which game I got. It might be Life Force but Castlevania is also one of the first games I've got.
I also remember that one of my friends also had a NES, but I'm not sure if he had it before or after me. I think he had it a little before me and let me play Ice Climber.

I recieved an NES and three games for Christmas back in '87.
These games were none other than Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, and Excitebike. The first I played was Mario.

Probably something at a SEARS or TOYS R US.
I will say that I was not asking for an NES when I received one for Christmas in 1989. First game purchased (and first, if you don't count SUPER MARIO BROS/DUCK HUNT) was ZELDA II: THE ADVENTURE OF LINK.
I found it really difficult and couldn't get past the Mountain mazes. ... LOL
Now I can get all the way up to the FIREBIRD but lose everythime...grrrr...

Wow what a thread revival...
No. Super Mario Bros. was NOT my first game played. It had to be Metroid. And it was before I got an NES. My cousin had rented the game and I played it over easter.
Good Stuff right there.
Now first NES game that I played that I OWNED?
Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt
Followed by Donkey Kong Classics 8-)

Gyromite with ROB.
But SMB sold me on it over my 7800.
A friend of mine had just gotten a NES which ment that the first NES game I played was Ice Climber. It was the pack-in game for the NES in Sweden.

i don't think i can remember back that far LOL , i think it was Excitebike. i remember playing it at my friends house and could not believe my eyes. the only games i have played before that was the Intellivision, and the graphics were so much better than any thing i have seen before i had to have one.
So the next day i sold my baseball cards ( i was allways collecting something ) and had enough money to get my first NES with mario and excitebike.

SMB at a friend's Bday party. I was 6 and sooo jealous. I demanded that we add a NES to the Atari. We did.
Still have that NES, though I use my modded top-loader more.
The first NES game I ever played was Legend of Zelda. But I only played it for like 5 minutes.
The first NES game I really sat down and played was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. I was hooked from then on! I had to have that console!

Easy.. MARIO BROS. (not "Super"). This was on a Famicom.
On an NES as in the U.S. version? I don't really remember.. :hmm: I'm sure it was Super Mario Bros.. the pack-in game.

think i got the NES in 1996 so probably the first 2 games i played were SMB3 and Castlevania 2:Simons Quest
I know my grandparants were cheap they couldn't just get me a PS1
First NES game?
Duck Hunt. Even before Mario on the same cart.
I don't actively play my NES, but I have a very tiny library of "should-have RPGs" for the day that I decide to spend time playing the system. I also have the usual Mario stuff since I have a 3 1/2 year old son who is working through his second PSX game. I want him to know the classic stuff as well as the modern. Come to think of it.....I wonder how he'd do on Duck Hunt? :D

Mine was Super Mario Bros. 3, we got the NES where you had the coupon for the free SMB 3 game or something like that. I remember waking up many Saturday's just to play that thing, and boy did my collection boom, about 70 games total today, and I haven't bought a game for it since '98.

I cant remember all that well anymore, But Im sure the first game I ever played was Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. I can remember dying repeatedly trying to get that first damn goomba... x_x I must have been 2-3 at the time.
Im sure RC Pro Am went in next.
Now I have 132 NES games, and have not touched either of these games in years. Ill have to play them both later.

The night I bought my NES Action Set, I stopped by the video store on the way home to rent another game. I worked at TRU at the time, and had seen enough of Super Mario Bros. in attract mode in the showcase. Selection at the time was pretty slim, but I settled on Br0derbund's Deadly Towers. I think it lasted about fifteen minutes in the machine before I pulled it out, put it back in the box, and left it until I had to return it to the store. A lot of people tell me I should have played more, that I missed out on a great game. But from my initial experience, I thought it to be a real stinker. I spent the rest of the evening with Mario and that damn Duck Hunt dog.
