I know that Best bought some portion of Atari, but I would like to hear an exhaustive account of when, where, what was sold, was was found, etc.

In other words, it'd be nice to hear all of the details put together into one coherent account. Also, what was/is Best Electronics, and why were they interested in buying in the first place?

Start by reading *Game Over* by David Scheff.

Click Here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0966961706/qid=1107053465/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/103-9276454-6313421?v=glance&s=books)

Or, you could do what might be somewhat obvious and type "history of atari" into Google, where you'll find lots of great sites with the information you're looking for.

Eh, I've already read Game Over a zillion times. It's not really a detailed account of the Best/ Atari thing (far from it).

I guess what I'm getting at is that so many prototypes and such come from Best auctions. I'd like to know why Best decided to buy Atari resources, WHAT they actually purchased (details of the agreement), why they did so (certainly not for the benefit of the game collecting/ historian society), and a listing of what Best managed to uncover in the dark corners.

Most accounts of Atari simply skate over this part as a minor footnote. I want details. Certainly someone here is familiar with the details?

I wonder who it was that got to inventory the Best purchase? Wouldn't that have been cool?! To be the guy with the clipboard, sniffing around in the Atari basement, uncovering proto after proto, documents, hardware, etc.

Someone should find the guy(s) and interview them. It'd be like hearing from..eh..those two guys who found King Tut's tomb.

Wow, interesting question. Hopefully someone has the answer because I too feel Game Over leaves many questions unanswered.

Why Game Over? It's a book about NINTENDO, not ATARI, so I don't see why there should be any mention of the Best Electronics part.

To tell the truth, I wish there was a good book on the history of Atari, so that that horrible Zap book could be forgotten once and for all.

Isn't Best Electronics just a long-time parts supplier for Atari that might have just bought off Atari Corp.'s inventory of parts and consoles at some point? Anyway, that's the impression I got from my online research on the subject.

Yeah, in case my sarcasm was a little too dry, I was wondering what Game Over had to do with it too.
