indentify this pc game

I remember playing this 2d shooter back when my father got a acer computer , it was generic at 1st , you depended on shield powerups but in between missions you would upgrade your ship with side guns and back guns on different levels of strength and also look at special data cubes that would pertain with the games story if any. And if you beat the demo you would play as a extra ship, a weird one in the shape of a carrot.

Found it a few weeks ago. Pretty much a side-scrolling Tyrian, except that it's been made with modern systems in mind, so it works in XP, and looks all shiny and new.

BTW I found in the above link a GBA and GBC VERSION!!! of tyrian!!! I wonder why that game wasnt comercially released!
