I paid for an NES for the first time last year in October(i think) and it was a $20 Top-loader! :-P

Before that we got all our NESs free from family members. We used to have 5, but only 2 are left.

My first NES was bought for me in August of 1988. That's the only one I've ever had.

...and I'll never let it go! :)

My first NES was bought for me sometime really early in my life. I wasn't even three, so it had to be 1989 or early 1990.

Last one I bought was about two and half years ago. Unless you count Famicoms and clones, in which case I bought an AV Famicom about a year ago, and a clone last summer.

Your first NES?

Your last NES?

I bought my first one in 1991.

I bought my last one in December, 2004.

I got my first NES at Playworld (toy store in Mesa AZ) in the spring of 1986. I got the version that didn't have the gun . . . just Super Mario Bros. I also bought 10 Yard Fight and Donkey Kong. When I registered my system . . . Nintendo sent me Donkey Kong 3 for free.

The last NES I bought was at the Englishtown swap meet in NJ a couple years ago. I saw a mint condition NES and couldn't say no. :)

got my first NES just after it stopped being cool. 1994. a friend sold me his and a pile of games for $15. it was the worst NES ever, the power button wouldn't stay down so i had an elastic around the body of the NES that, once i got a game working (after much jiggling and blowing), i'd have to slide over the power button to keep the damn thing running. i played the hell out of that thing. i had a 31-game-in-1 cartridge that i mostly used to play balloon fight. other than that megaman II and III probably saw the most use on that thing.

my most recent NES would be just a couple of days ago. i pick 'em up whenever i see 'em for a good price and sell them on ebay. it keeps money in my paypal account for when a good deal pops up on ebay.

My first NES was also my first console, received as a Christmas present in 1987. It was later given to my cousin and a new one bought for me in 1990. I asked to have the first one back in 1999 for memories' sake, although I still have the second one too.

I've bought several since but not recently as thrifts are drying up.

My parents bought one for my brother and I in mid-'89. When I got my Tri-Star for my SNES, I reliquished my half of the NES to my brother, and I've not owned an NES since.

First: Christmas of 1987
Last: November 2004. Picked up 4 loose systems (no cables/controllers) for 10 bucks. I figure I'll either find the RF switch and powerboxes or use them for parts later on.

First NES was Christmas of 86. Been working ever since.

2nd and last NES was in December 2004, when I found one for $40 with 14 games, power pad and other accessories. That found a new home on ebay :D

Your first NES?

My first "nes" was actually a Famiclone.. although I've gone through the years thinking it was the actual Famicom, I eventually came to realize it's a bootleg. Anyway, when I was a freshman in High School (1983/84) I first saw the Famicom in Japan when I went there on a student exchange. This was at the height of the videogame crash and my memories of 5200 games fading from the shelves was still pretty fresh. Anyway... I saw a display of Mario Bros. running on a tv and I was BLOWN AWAY.

Just think.. at that time Japan was more or less still an exotic place with lots of amazing stuff you'd never find elsewhere unless you went there to see it. I'd marvel at all the odd consumer items (like pink godzilla microwaves and earrings) and of course their electronic games which I stocked up on. Anyway, I come to see the Famicom.. and it was at once joy and despair. Joy because it was so amazing to see that type of animation, sound and arcade-like quality at the time better than I had seen from any previous console.. and despair, because it just seemed like an esoteric thing in Japan that I wouldn't be able to afford, nor be able to take home anyway due to power differences. What would I tell my friends? "IN JAPAN THERES THIS VIDEOGAME SYSTEM THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE ARCADE! IT WAS AWESOME". I was in awe.

Fast forward.. I came back a couple months later and this time, the family I stayed with actually had a famicom. They had Super Mario Bros. I was in total awe and love again as I had never seen a game like it. I remember the way I described it to my brother.. "It's Mario and he goes through all these worlds!" LOL

Anyway, fast forward again a couple of months. I'm back at home. I go to the local store..and there it was! The Family Computer! I picked up with SMB. And thus began my Famicom bootleg cart collection. This was when I was in high school and a pretty long time before the NES even came out.. at least one or two years I think? Anyway, that's why the majority of my early NES games are actually famicom or famicom bootleg carts.

Your last NES?

Easy.. the last NES was the first NES I bought. I bought my first American NES while I was in college in 1987.

I wanna say it was 1987 was when I got my first NES. My parents got it for me for I believe good grades. My mom told me to go into their room and look on the bed. I noticed one of the pillows was higher than the other. Under was a rectangular box wrapped in brown paper. I peeled part of the paper off and saw the Nintendo logo and I went nuts. They gave me the Action set with Super Mario and Duck Hunt. I have that same system today, though I discovered I didn't have my SMB/Duck hunt cartridge. Last year my mom happened to find it before they moved: it was in a clear plastic NES cartridge shell with my middle-school chicken scratch on a label.

Even though many NES decks have the flashing problem, it's a tough little machine.

Well, I can't really claim it as "mine", but I got my first taste of NES when my brother was given one in '87.

When he sold it, I saved up my money to buy a SNES and Super Mario All-Stars, so I could play all those Mario games that I sorely missed.

However, as the years went by, I wanted the real deal and all those other games I missed that I couldn't play on anything but NES. I finally got my own NES in early '99, but I had been planning to buy one for awhile (I had already loaded up on several of the games my brother had prior to buying that NES). Back then I was pretty clueless about how I could get old systems, so not until I got my own PC and internet connection did I learn that I could get an NES on eBay (my calls to a few local stores proved fruitless as they told me they didn't currently have any).

A year or so later I bought my toploader since I want to get into Famicom games and using the original model was too difficult with my converter.

And that's it. For some reason I pretty much never come across any NES systems in the wild, so I haven't done any buying to resell.
