Anyone else has this problem? After running for 5 min, it'll only turn on for half a second for a couple of days. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Another thing also is that it was sitting in a closed box under a bed for about 2-3 years without any use. I think before then it was working though. Could this be happening because of dust may have gotten in it, or is my SNES about to kick the bucket? :(

Sounds like it is overheating. There is a heat sink with a 3-prong chip attached to it right behind where the power plugs in SNES 1 model (not in the SNES 2 smaller models). I used to have my SNES overheat when this wasn't attached well to the heat sink....yours could be overheating for a different reason, but I've had this happen to me when I forgot to re attach it. But either way, it definitely sounds like something is overheating in there.

Or...maybe your power supply is overheating??

This might be best in the tech and restoration forum.

It might just be dust, clogging the vents and overheating the sucker. If you have the means, open it up and take a peek inside. You might also have some success by spraying canned air into the vents (unplug the system first though, of course)

Maybe you have an Uber rare demo unit that was made for stores. Not too long ago someone had an earthbound game like that. LOL

Good luck getting it fixed. You can get a new one for a reasonable price, they don't tear up often.
