I am using a NET GEAR 4 port hub, and a Mac, and a typical modem to try and get xbox live, i did everything right, with the uplink and put computer cord into port 1, and can get online with mac (obviously or else i wouldnt be typing this), but when i put in ethernet cord, for xbox i cant connect to live...i know all cords still work as i used them all separetly many times before, and that my account is still valid, any ideas or questions, please help.

What kind of router?

That is very important. www.xbox.com has a list in the "live" section on which routers are compatible with live. When I first got live, i used a non compatible router, with just a few problems, (it was a linksys wireless b, i believe), but when i hooked up two more xboxes in my house the rooms dropped instantly. Since then, they have made lists of which routers work, and which don't. It is apparently the number one issue people have.

Incedentally, I use a very simple Dlink 604 now. 20 bucks I believe, but no problems running two servers for RSBA and my own players box!........With two megs of upload of course.. LOL

Is it a crossover cable, or standard ethernet. If you can hook two xbox's together with just that cable, it's a crossover cable, and it's not the one you need. Otherwise, I don't know what's up.

Modem?

Cable modem? You need a router and not a hub.
