I just bought a Nintendo DS at a cheap price (around $115), and it is brand new in the box. I am trying to decide whether I should keep it or sell it to make some money.

First of all I am wondering how long it will be before a price cut. I realize that nobody really knows this, but what are some statistics from other systems? How soon after release were their prices cut, and by how much?

Second, I was wondering what good games will be coming out relatively soon (i.e. before the price drops). Right now there are hardly and games that interest me. I guess this is all based on opion, but I would still like to hear yours.

Thanks.

In my opinion you should just go ahead and hang on to it. If it drops to $99, then you will only be saving 15 bucks. Thats hardly worth the effort it will take to sell that one and then go out and buy a new one when the price drops. Also, I wouldnt be surprised to see the price drop to $129.99 before heading down to $99.99. Nintendo is still having way to much success with the SP to price the DS only $20 above it. Third, even at $149.99, the DS will be price-competitive against the PSP, which is further evidence that a price drop will not occur soon. I say that if a price drop does occur, it will be right when the PSP comes out, just to take some of the wind out of Sony's sails (and sales :))

I know that they are releasing a Final Fantasy game for the DS here pretty soon.... I don't really know what else is coming out. I'm just looking at it fron a financial standpoint.

One word that should convince you to keep it.... Castlevania!

A lot of the good games are coming out in the next few months. I say keep it. They're plentiful now, so you wouldn't really make much of a profit by selling it. Hell, we have over a dozen DS's and PS2's each in stock now. If you sold it before Christmas, then you'd have made a cool 50 or so. Now, just keep it.

I wouldent expect a price cut for awhile. just hang onto it, if you plan on plasying it be happy you got such a good deal. selling it on ebay would probably net you $30, but i wouldent bother w/ the hassal.

Will you play it? If so, keep it. If not, sell it.

If I got one right now, I think I would hold onto it. There are some really sweet games coming out for it in the next few months, and I have been getting more and more tempted to get one for Metroid just based on the Cube version of the game.

If you're not interested in that, Mario Kart or anything else, sell it and use the money to buy something you're more interested in!

First of all, considering that DS games sell for about the same price as GBA games, it's not too bad on that front.

Secondly, there are some interesting stuff coming out: Wario Ware DS (think of it as Wario Ware 2), Animal Crossing DS (don't know if there's anything new compared to the GameCube version, but just bringing the game on the road is an interesting prospect), Final Fantasy 3 (which will be released in English for the first time ever... I suppose it will receive the FF Origins/FF I+II treatment), Metroid Prime Hunters...

And these are just titles right off my mind. I'd say hold on to it.

Keep it. The good games are coming out slowly.

From what I have read, heard and speculated - Nintendo will launch the online portion of the DS with Mario Kart.

Next you have Animal Crossing (wil be amazing if online, no doubt it will be) Also dont forget about New Super Mario Bros and the game that I am most excited about Mateos.

It's worth holding onto.

And any DS gamers living in NYC should come to the next DS Multiplay night. If you're interested, check out www.themodgods.com. It's a great site with LOTS of information about the DS - but the guy that runs the site has organized 3 successful get-togethers out at NYC bars where we have thrown back a few and played whatever multiplayer games were at hand (NOT PICTOCHAT, It's not a game Nintendo, do ytou hear me!!!) We just had another one this past weekend.

Okay, Im more inclined to keep it now. The only problem is that I hardly have time to play the games I already own, but I guess I will want one of these eventually anyway.

I already did sell one of these before Christmas and made a fair amount on it, but that one cost more than this one did.

If you are curious, they had a sale at Meijer on Saturday, 15% off everything in the store (except groceries). They also had a buy one get one half off on video game software. Plus, I have a 10% off discount card because I
work(ed) there. Turns out all three deals stacked on top of one another. So I got the DS, Mario 64, and the new GBA Zelda all for around $155.

I was impressed with the Metroid demo (the one in the store), but Im still looking for some more good games. I was never a huge fan of Castlevania, but the Final Fantasy could be interesting. I really want to see something make innovative use of the touch screen, because thats really its main feature.

Anyway, go ahead and mention more reasons to do one thing or another, because I havent completely made up my mind yet.

This is why I rarely buy anything current. The latest and greatest tends to be overpriced and to have a dubious future.

Go ahead and pick up Feel the Magic with that.

Wait for upcoming titles (Yoshi, Wario Ware, Mario Kart, Metroid, Castlevania, plethora of titles).

Enjoy.

The only reason I still have mine is because castlevania is out. Otherwise I would have sold it off for much needed gaming funds =D.

Are you serious? Keep it! It's brand new, a baby.... many good things are to come for this system. Not only that, you got a great deal for the DS new. I paid the $149.99, but had to travel into the city to get it when I did (about a week after release) and I do not regret it one bit. It really was worth it to me, even with the small handful of game I have for it now. If you get rid of it for a few bucks more now, you'll be buying it new for $150 when you want to play the great games coming in the very near future (like Warioware Touched in a little over two weeks).

Okay. The other thing that concerns me is that when they come out with cool colors and designs, Ill be stuck with the basic one. The only reason I bought the SP was becaus of the cool NES design.

Hey, get some spraypaint and do it up in a funky yellow. What? Come on, it's for playing the games. I wouldn't base by console purchase on the cool colors. If that's the case, go ahead and sell it. By the time you buy the Indigo version we all will have enjoyed many a game. Yeesh.
