Are there any out here? Besides the obvious CGE? I am looking for more "swap meet" game type thingies to go to.

I've volunteered in the past to hold an event here in Reno. I'm a recent San Jose, CA transplant. - Jeff

I wish there were more events in CA, but if there were too many more I'd be so incredibly broke. :)

We used to have one in the bay area but it died :( but why don't we set up something. And give it another try and see how it goes that'd be cool. It can be classic/current video game swap meet and where we all could play games. That'd rock .... But seeing that some people live in different parts of cali. We will need to work out something (such as location, date and time) etc.... Soon my work schedule should be changing so I should have the weekends off and I know several more gamers/collectors who doesn't visit the forums that I can get them to come ....also I remember retrogmr (larry) was planning one but I'm still waiting to hear about the plans and details from him but I am sure he's very busy these days ... So we will have to wait or make a new one ... So lets plan on doing that....

Once again, I would like to offer up my home for a weekend Retro Gaming get together. We've got a dedicated game room, great views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and are a quick drive to Lake Tahoe.
I have a Mame server with over 3000 arcade games plus hundreds of Sega roms and dozens of different emulators. Plus I've got extra TVs that we can set up whatever consoles folks would like to bring.
From anywhere in the West you can fly Southwest airlines here for about $39. Quite a deal!
Please disuss this in the forum here.

I would sure consider it... actually, Reno is perfectly drivable from here (it's between 6 and 7 hours) but if it was only $39 to fly then I would try to find a flight from San Jose or San Francisco.

I honestly think we should have it somewhere in between Northern and Southern Cal, that way everyone can get to it. Most people find it easier to get to Los Angeles or San Jose, and there has not been one out here, pretty unchartered territory for some reason LA is.

I'm in Sacramento, and I can try to make a short trip somewhere, unfortunately, with a wife and two little kids and a full time job it's kinda difficult.
But I would love to bring my R>G>B monitor with me!!!!

Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could all meet at e3?

I'm in San Jose and I'm up for something more than just CGE. We're the biggest state, logically we should have the most events. I've gotten real lazy lately about collecting but I collect NES and N64.

Actually, we're the third biggest state behind Alaska and Texas... but we are the most populous state, which I'm sure is what you meant.

I'm going to update this thread, and see what kind of interest we can get, I noticed a random paperback Book Fair in a hotel garage sale style herein the SFV that would be PERFECT for a swap meet style thingy...

Re: Southern California..
I'm Geoff Voigt, the (former?) co-Organizer of the old SC3 meets. I still have many E-mails and regular real-life contact with many of the old members. There are many SC3'ers here on DP. If they want to be known, they'll pipe up.
The demand for a gathering is still here and strong. If someone wants to do a So-Cal meet, I can help in some advisory way, but I can no longer lead or organize due to changes in personal priorities.
You will need:
A meeting place for at least 20-30 people, and electricity for 7-10 simultaneously running systems and thier monitors.
A snack table, and preferably a beer tub; all the old meetings took place in private residences, so alchohol was possible. A public place might not let this happen.
So-Cal is a great place for Imports, and Orange County has a lot of Flea Markets. Regan Years in Fullerton is also a wonderful way to end a meet.

Is there a way you can tell me where the best Orange County Flea Markets are for games?

Like you don't already have enough stuff Jason? Now you want to invade my turf? Cypress College was where I found my robocop proto for $2, and Stadium Events for $6, along with other good deals. I haven't gone on a Saturday for a long time, so I don't know what to expect, but you might be able to score big. Good Luck

Too bad everyone is so wide spread. There are no real gamers up here in Northern CA.
I would love to attend some sort of get-togather. But Im a little dissapointed everyone seems to want it in down south. Driving to/in LA is a pain in the ass.
By any chance are there any people from Butte or Tehema counties here?
Mabey not....

Emily, depends on where you are, I thought NoCal had lots of gamers.

Hey that's one of my spots too. I've found quite a few good things there. Though I haven't been there in a few weeks.
