Any suggestions on games I should pick up?

I saw that there is a Megaman game for the GG, is it very good?

Mega Man GG is a hit and miss...the SFX and Music is bad....but the gameplay is nice

Need a Gear Master Converter? Play SMS games on your GameGear, cuz I got one for sale :D

I've never really been impressed with the game gear, but it's really a must have in a classic gaming collection. Columns is sort of a no-brainer to have as it's the GG version of tetris. Sonic the hedgehog is also good. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a neat puzzle title. I'm ot really sure what else...

I remember playing Donald Duck: The Lucky Dime Caper alot when I was a kid. If your into trading, maybe we can work out some sort of deal for some GG games.

It's funny, I've had a GG since it launched, and I still don't know much about what all is available for it.

EDIT: Well, here's some:
(None of these are my auctions, just showing what games exist)

I dunno if any of those are actually any good, but I imagine so. It's just what caught my eye. There are actually a LOT of games out for the thing, it's not like N64 where you stop seeing any new titles after 5 or so pages of auctions. GG stuff appears to be REALLY cheap too, even for sealed games. I may have to dig the system out this weekend and play around with it.

I owned two games for the Game Gear. Columns, and Batman Forever.

I don't really like Tetris-style games, but I don't really like complete and total crap either... I found myself in quite the difficult position.

I'll go ahead and recommend Columns, if you're a Tetris fan. But please, avoid the other aforementioned title like you would avoid a chain-wielding leper(run. run far, far away.)

I keep passing on collecting for the GG. It's the only mainstream console that I don't have, except for the Atari 5200 (which I previously had but sold out of frustration with the controllers). I know there's a list of Top 20 games for it, but my real question is, are the games really worth it? I mean you can list the top 20 games for nearly any console (provided they had 20 games released), but that doesn't mean any of the games are good. I guess that's been my problem with the GG. None of the games stand out, and more or less seem like rehashes of prior releases on other consoles. Am I wrong?

PS, Is teh Blue GG rare or something? I see them occasionally on ebay and was just wondering.

Well, to each his own....when they say the top 20...they won't lie to you, it's their own opinion to what is the best for that particular system. I do agree that the GG was just a system to port over most of the Genesis hits to tell the customers "Hey you can take Sonic on the go now!"...yet, GG does have it's uniqueness, the ports are very different compared to it's bigger brother, in fact they aren't really ports at all if you break it down. I've never ran into a system I did not like

Are the games worth it you say? Give it a shot, you have to let go all that you know and just dive in, never compare a system to another, because you just don't know what you might like or dislike. Don't listen to the hype, just listen to the advice. Only you can make that decision for any system you wish to try out.

and lastly yes, Blue GG is rare.

You have to get Donald Duck Lucky Dime Caper, Mickey Mouse In Castle Of Illusion, Columns and Shinobi

NOTE:The GG Shinobi is a whole different game to the SMS one/Arcade one and IMO its so much better!

I'd say grab Shining Force :)

Oh and EnemyZero, I like the last 2 sigs (especially Bella Morte, I have a good concert of them on my computer) but this sonic one is distrubing O.o

One of my personal favorite games for the system is Streets of Rage 2. Played that game to death when I was younger.

Yo

The GG game I play the most is Dragon Crystal. It's gameplay is almost identical to Fatal Labyrinth on the Genesis with the exception of the dragon egg attached to your butt that evolves. Very simple wander around fighting monsters and levelling up and upgrading. Random mazes so it's different every time and no save :)

Shining Force II is good if you go for Zelda like RPG's

I would recommend Baku Baku for a tetris like game. :)

Get the GG Shinobi and Sonic games for platformers. For shooters, the two Aleste/Power Strike games are excellent and despite the names they are original games and not ports of SMS or MSX games.
