I'm about to make an offer to hopefully, finally, land my MVS. The one in question is a four slot that is in good - VG cosmetic condition.

It comes with Strikers 1945, Metal Slug, Metal Slug X, and Puzzle Bobble 2.

The question becomes, how much should I offer? I'm thinking of starting at $600, but I've got more to play with if need be.

I've watched them for quite awhile on eBay, but the prices can very wildly depending on any number of factors. I'd like for the experts in this forum to give me a good idea of fair market value.

Thanks!

Holy Christ, based on auctions and local sales I've seen, I wouldn't go above $300 for that.

Well, if you figure a 4-slot board is worth about $125, the Slugs are $50ish each, and Strikers 1945 is a good $75, then you start at about $300 worth of stuff. I'm a little confused on Puzzle Bobble 2 - do you mean Bust A Move Again? If so, then I'd say offer $500 on the whole thing assuming it's totally working and in nice shape.

MVS cabinets can always be had for less at auctions, but if they're not available to you, then $500 would be a fair going rate in my book for everything that's included. Just ensure those game carts aren't bootlegged.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Perhaps location has something to do with the prices around here. I had a friend go after an MVS recently from an acrade that closed and couldn't pick up a 4 slot, with junk games for $500.

While I certainly am trying to get into the arcade scene, I'm having a hard time getting my legs out from under me. I live in Colorado, and most places that I've found around here work with Pinball machines exclusively, or have extremely high prices.

Could anyone provide me with a possible list of auctions that may be close to my area or recommend how I should start to break into the arcade scene? I've called a few amusment places/dealers around here, but as a private collector, they never return my calls. At the risk of being blunt, I now have the available space to host a few arcades, and have the disposable income to purchase a few choice machines.

The closest "Superauctions" comes to here is Kansas City and that's a 10 hour drive for me (even though I'm strongly concidering going to the March 19th auction and renting a U-Hall back if I land anything.

Also, it should be noted, that I'd be aquiring this game from an Arcade owner, and not from a private collector.

As for Puzzle Bobble 2, it may be Bust a Move Again (the US name), however, I was pretty sure the mini-marquee said PB2. Regardless, it's definately one or the other. I'm 100% positive on the other cart.

As for checking for boots. What's the best way to do that short of popping open the cart and looking at the board? I've read threads on Neo-Geo.com regarding identifying boots, however, I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to get that kind of access to the carts without the arcade owner calling off the deal (which I should walk away from at that point anyway).

I'm with the guy who said to offer $300. I don't think I'd go higher than $400 on that, and the cab it's self would have to be in extremly nice condition.

Yeah, I wouldn't go over $400 either... I just sold a 1 slot cab w/ a 25" monitor and 4 crappy games for $250, so $400 sounds reasonable.

Heh tell me about it. Check out my thread about Arcade Vendor bashing.  Anyway there are a lot of places on the web to get MVS stuff. I posted these links on another post I have on this forum. If you can't find auctions near you try these sites

You might PM Vespertillo ... he has a few arcade games in his Room of Doom and lives in or around Denver -- he may know some good contacts for you!

In the ULTIMATE irony, my "friend" (I say that jokingly, he is my friend) :P Geon_Dp just got a 4-Slot MVS from an arcade that closed just near me with 4 games for $250 bucks. He, of course, neglected to even tell me about said auction because he knows I would have outbid him and the auction was posted when I was out of town.

And to make matters worse, the MVS I was referring to is now no longer for sale and the operator won't even call me.

:bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

Today was a crushing blow to my already fragile ego.

Anyway. Back to square one for my MVS hunt. Thanks for the heads up on the links and the contact Flack. That could make my life a lot easier. I'm obviously ready to buy and ready to pay what it's worth.

Regarding SuperAuctions. Again, the closest one to me is in Kansas City, it's a 10 hour drive. I really want to go and get an arcade cabinet or two, but my hunt for an MVS is more important.

For those folks who have been to several events, how frequent are MVSs there? I'd hate to drive all that way and have to settle on a half working Xybot's arcade instead of what I really wanted. In short, would it be worth the drive?

Exactly you have pretty reasonable pricing there. ClubNinja buddy. :)

I hear you blissfulnoise... I am in Colorado too and have had a hard time getting my hands on a Neo 4 slot (non-conversion) in the area. At least at a fair price. Recently I have started thinking I would rather have a candy cab instead, though that will only make things harder for me... :/

Nice find your friend had! I would have grabbed it in a second! :D

Just a semi-update here.

I managed to get pretty lucky this weekend and pick up a few cabinets. Not percisely what I wanted, but I'm quite happy!

The King of Fighters 01 cabnet is some sort of converson cab. Its sporting a 1 slot MVS board. It also has the move sets for KoF99 on the bezel. Kind of odd, but still pretty cool.

Tekken 4 looks complete minus the side art. It looks like an original dedicated cabinet, but I can't really tell for sure. The arcade owner I bought it off of said he never received side art.

The Marvel vs Capcom is obviously a dedicated cab. I've never seen this type of arcade unless it had MvC in it, however, it's feasable that any CPSII board can be put in there.

I'm still very much on the hunt for a MVS dedicated cab. I don't really want a candy cab; it's going to sound pretty strange, but I think they look too "Japanese" and will look out of place with the kind of game room I'm looking to build. A super auctions trip is definately in my future at some point; I just don't know when. I suppose I'll have to wait until then to get my dedicated MVS cabinet.

In the mean time, I'll enjoy what I have. :D

Nice stuff, I especially like that Tekken 4 cab you got there... :D you have alot there to sink your teeth into it looks like. Are you planning on going to a super auction out of state and then haul the cab home? I don't get why none of these arcade auctions ever come to CO, at least from what I can tell.

Yeah, I was planning on hauling a trailer back. I have a friend of mine who races cars so we were going to use his trailer. However, with the money I spent on the above cabs, it looks like the March 19th KC trip will not be possible. I'm planning on making up for it in the fall.

Here's hoping I can add to those three soon!

Cool, always good to have friends with trucks and/or trailers... I know I won't be making any auctions in March, but I may do something similar if I get desperate enough for a cab.

very nice cabs

if you hunt around, you can get a neo geo for cheaper than the $600 in your original post

i picked up my 4 slot, 4 games, 5 mini marquess, dip switch sheets, and instruction manual for $350

it is in perfect working order and in beautiful shape

all i need was to clean it up a bit, buy a memory card, and buy some new games for it

good luck at the auction if you decide to go
