I found this on the back of an issue of "Sgt. Rock" from DC Comics from November of1982...the back of it has the ad of Frogger for 2600. Yet, when i read the copyright at the very bottom...this struck my interest

It says

"Frogger game graphics (C) 1982 SEGA ENTERPRISES Inc. FROGGER is a trademark of SEGA Enterprises Inc. Sears Video Arcade is a trademark of Sears Rosebuck & Co. Atari and Atari Video Computer System are trademarks of Atari Inc"

Question...Did SEGA invent Frogger?? or Did Konami?? Or did Sega program this version of Frogger?

LOL

I'm just laughing cause I asked that very same question here about a year ago and Joe and some others explained it to me. ;)

Long story short -- It's a Konami designed and developed game, but at the time Konami was a small company that licenced many of their games out to other companies, both for arcades and consoles. (I think they were only formed in 79 or 80?) Sega was given the rights to Frogger in the arcade and Parker Brothers for the consoles.

Recent versions of the game (such as in the GBA Konami pack) are clearly marked as Konami's.

The Parker Bros. releases credit Sega on them. I wonder if Konami got screwed on royalties back then.

Frogger wasn't the only Konami game licensed to Sega. Sega released Turpin(Turtles) and also Guttang Gottong(Loco-Motion).
