Or more precisely mame roms that make good use of the mouse.

I love Cabal. Not to understate this fact I would marry have sexual relations with and murder for insurance money THIS game if such a thing was physically possible.
And it uses the mouse to replace the trackball gameplay. I crave more gaming goodness like it.

Can anybody recommend some good arcade mame games that used the trackball ie mouse support My basic list would be:

CABAL "worship my gameplay goodness"
Missile command
Arkanoid
discs of tron
.... cant think of more.

please add.

This thing is awesome for trackball games in MAME, got mine for 3 bucks at goodwill. Bowling and marble madness rock with this.

Kickman uses a sort of pseudo-trackball - it only moves side to side. Like a trackball roasting on a spit. Mmmmmm.

Reactor and Quantum are both excellent in this respect. Also try Major Havoc.

Sothy my friend, have I got the game for you:

CHILLER.

You'll love it. And pretty much and Exidy shooter - Crossbow, Cheyenne, etc. (Yes, I know the original versions didn't use a trakball, but...)

Also, you'll want to check out the sequel to Cabal - Blood Brothers. (This arcade game did use a trak ball.)

Oh man, I love this one! Plays perfectly with a mouse too. It's great how you can shoot the flesh and body parts off the corpses. So many things to kill. I wish they would re-make this one.

The Golden Tee games used the trackball to control the spin on the ball.

I can't think of any that haven't been mentioned here, but I just wanted to give a shout out to CABAL! Easily one of the awesomest games to come out of the late 80s. (Unfortunately, the NES version just doesn't do it justice.)

You know, I was playing Crystal Castles a while ago, and wondering why the trackball never took off on home systems. Crystal Castles gives you some of the most precise control I've ever seen in a game. You can move Bentley Bear slow as a slug, or have him on the opposite side of the screen in a second, and it can be done easily without learning the microsurgical technique necessary to get the most out of traditional console analogue joysticks. Could you imagine a game like Mario 64 played with a trackball? I think it would work great, and the only reason I think it was never really tried is because it would look wierd. Modern games prefer a more realistic appearance than having your character magically float over the landscape at 900 mph. But it would be cool if they tried it!

If you like Cabal, then you'd also like Blood Brothers. It's basically the same game set in the old west.
