major Funcoland find today!!! (and a disappointment)

Damn, what a day. I thought id stop by the ole Funcoland on the way to the baseball game today, just for the heck of it, havent been lately, and as i was leaving, whats this.... a brand new in the box with ALL accessories NES Stack-Up for $2.99!!!! What the hell!? This thing hasnt been touched ever i dont think! Still got a price tag from Toys R US on it! As a nice bonus, i picked up a Gyromite brand new in the box for $.99! I think i remember recenty reading someone else having a great Stack Up find at a FuncoLand. Ill be hitting the other store tomorrow no doubt!! THe disappointment came as I was purchasing it, I asked the girl what they do with game boxes for old systems, she said "We throw them all away, theres no room". She then pointed to the trash pile at the back with AT LEAST 40-50 Genesis game boxes ready to hit the dumpster, soo sad. Anyway, that just goes to show you that treasures are found when you lease expect it!!!! =)

hey, i thought about snaggin all those boxes, but i made myself not take them, i got enough crap stuffed in my closets as it is! =) Honestly, im debating on going back tomorrow and hunting for them, its the weekend, the garbage hasnt been collected yet so there either still in the store our out back! =)

It sucks that they would go and throw out game boxes like that...

What a waste of cardboard and plastic. if anything, the Genesis carts that DO have boxes should be kept in them! The Genesis boxes were some the best to keep carts clean and in one place, unlike the cardboard Nintendo boxes.

Geez, people buy the used game soff them as an investment, the least they can do is try to find some way of keeping the carts clean till a customer buys them!

i went back today, but I forgot it was sunday, oops, apparently they were closed earlier than usual. Im gonna try again though. All those poor boxes, said aint it? =)

Go throught he dumpster...or just ask and say you're a collector and that by giving them to you, you'll be saving them the trouble of throwing them out and helping the environment too.

sometimes they won't give you the boxes... I forget exactly why, but it's something to do with taxes (ie, they can write the stuff off). EBX and Gamestop also toss boxes on older games.
