I got to say Metriod Prime (I).

Runners up would be Contra III SNES (hardest level)
Mike Tyson
Puma from Pro Wrestling

I'm sure there are others, I'm just drawing a blank...

Cobra Commander
02-04-2005, 01:42 AM
The Thunderbird in Zelda II. Everyone always told me how hard Link's shadow was. Pshhhhh.....thunderbird....that thing was the hardest I've ever faced before. At least I think.

Most of the later bosses in Vietiful Joe, but only the Gamecube version as the PS2 version seemed easier.

i would also have to second Metroid Prime, that thing just wouldn't die

Pretty much anything from Ninja Gaiden.

And the Egg Dragon in Lufia II...it's completely optional, but it takes 10-15 minutes to kill if not longer...even at high levels.

Pretty much anything from Ninja Gaiden.

Definately!

And Meta Ridley from Metroid Prime

Xantan the Foul

The Spanish guy from Time Lord.

And Meta Ridley is realy easy if you know how to do it... just lock onto him with the one attack that keeps hitting once it's locked on. Even after he covers his weak spot up again, you still damage him as long as that attack is locked ;)

Zero and Rugal, I find somewhat feasible to beat. I actually did clobber Zero once on Level 4 difficulty. :D

But Igniz... GODDAMN IGNIZ... AAAAAAAAAAAAAA... I don't know if I've ever knocked the guy out, I've pretty much only won through time-outs. Igniz belongs in fuckin' Eternal Champions or something like that.

One of the hardest boss fights it has ever been my pleasure to suffer would be the pissing shitting son-of-the-bitch entitled Hiruko, the final boss of Shinobi for the PS2. It took me about two goddamn straight hours of effort to try and obliterate that asswipe... I accomplished my mission, but I sure felt drained afterwards. :/

I apologize for my gratuitious swearing, BTW. It's early morning, and I don't wanna go to school today.

The Grim Reaper (Castlevania)

Easiest boss in the world if you have the holy water. Just keep throwing it on the ledge he first lands on. If he never hits the ground, he doesn't move and the flying scythes never appear.

As for Meta Ridley, I beat him on first try...I believe if you use the wave buster on his second form (don't use it before that), you will kick his ass without a fight. I think you use charge shots on his first form.

I would also have to say Mike Tyson. I never did legitimately beat him. I did get him down to like 1 or 2 more punches before, but he always cheated on my ass by throwing never-ending punches that I had no choice but to dodge until the round ended, that cheating fuck.

I remember there was a really tough last boss in Low G Man on the hardest difficulty....I always ran out of time before I could beat him. The first Genesis Shinobi had some TOUGH bosses. I think the level 4 boss or something took like 45 minutes (well, maybe not that long, but still).

The Emerald and Ruby weapons in FF VII take the cake though....unless you know the way to automate the battle so you can take a nap.

Tyson in Tyson's Punch Out!! is cake.

When I was much younger I could usually beat him, but I must disagree with that overall statement.

Sure, all the moves are telegraphed, but even so I'd still call Tyson quite a Christer to defeat.

Coolest thing was, back in the day, my whole reason for existing was to defeat Mike Tyson. Some buddies of mine said that he was invincible, but I insisted that he was not, and a lot of people didn't believe that I did beat him until I actually showed them.

Come on, Dave. Don't you think Tyson was harder than anybody in Super Punch Out!! ?

Never did try to complete Total Carnage. And I hope I will be able to resist the urge now that you mentioned that...

As far as hardest levels go, the third level in Choplifter with caverns and lava is next to impossible to defeat, I've never beaten the 4th with city rooftops and men in jetpacks.

Welllllllllllllll... I did once. I was really bored one day, so I kept playing the final level, skipping there with passwords, until I could finally distinguish the real Akhboob from the rushing clones... when this failed repeatedly, I realized that I had to run into each and every single clone to do this, and with perseverance, I eventually strapped Akhboob into THE CHAIR, where he belongs, and he fried... oh, how I watched him fry.

Now when I do that again, but start a game from Total Carnage from scratch on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, then I'll step forth and claim that I did it. ;)

Sorry to divert the topic for a slight tad. Another balls hard boss that I have to mention is the Eternal Champion from... Eternal Champions. You only have two chances to beat him five times. I could say more, but that alone is an extremely frustrating reason.

P.S.: I refer to it as the "crosserang." :D

Which Super Star Wars game on the SNES has you flying through all that garbage at the very end of the game? Super Return of the Jedi? Man that was so damn hard I just consider it beaten even though I never made it through. It was mostly a problem with the developers being too ambitious and the game engine simply not being strong enough to make a playable level out of it.

Actually, your pessimism came first. Second, I appericate your joke, but your wit was not taken as humor.

If this seems as harsh words to you, I doubt it. Then again, your use of terminology has been taken too seriously over such matters.

The bottom line is, the original term was CrossBow, but for the European and American audiences. It was changed, due to religious conflicts. Yet, in later releases of CastleVania sometime after CastleVania SOTN in was named Cross Bow again.

Do I make myself comprehensible Mr.rbudrick?

In no way, did I make inaccuracy in what I have stated, for I have referred to this weapon within the game for many years beforehand.

Again, I assure you, I never took this seriously, I made one comment about what the weapon was called, and you mistakenly put down the classic slang, leaving you wide open for direct hit or let me say this.."YA DIG?"

In conclusion, I stick to my theory, I am not the one to be trifled with, and therefore Cross Boomerang would be a better word at this time, yet I feel the slang CrossBow was well put, because in CastleVania Bloodlines it was changed to Boomerang-like-object, so I can see the current clash for both terms.

So, just call it what you want..because what you think it is, is what matters.

Last form of Dr. Wily in Mega Man 7
Any battle, boss or not in Tales of Destiny 2 (The Japanese one)
Alot of people say the Wind Elemental in Vay, though I didn't have too much trouble with it.

Also, the last boss in Phantasy Star 2 wasn't nearly as hard as the 2nd to last boss. I only "beat" him once, and only because it makes your characters "turn traitor and run," and the running is always supposed to fail, but for some reason on my cart, it succeeded, and I got away with not winning that battle.

I'll try to do it again someday, but I don't know how to make videos of MAME. I'm pretty sure there's some option that does make videos during the process of playing, but I never bothered to fiddle with it, sooooooo... heh, does anyone know how to do MAME videos? :embarrassed:

Yash: Goenitz was pretty bad in KoF 96, but not as bad as he could be. However, his assholery in SNK vs. Capcom inspired me to call him "Ghey Nits" from then on. I agree, he is a butthole. And he has a goofy haircut.

Another effing hard boss: The Uber-Soldat of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I swear, that fucker nearly drove me to whatever mental asylums would accept me. Without a doubt the most difficult boss EVER is the skeleton at the end of Gladiator (arcade, of course).

I agree, when playing the Xbox verison, if I knew about the remote device sooner to freeze the Uber Soldat for a breif amount of time, I would have finished that battle quicker....but the best route to take him down, is to play ring around the control booth...he can't fire when you're standing in the white control room...but tries to find the nearest enterance to get inside. So playing tag with him, was the only sure way to bring him down while watching out for the gaurds coming in from the next room on the 2nd floor

That's precisely what I did. Bloody took me long enough. Thankfully, the wide open space and the fact that they didn't use their Tesla guns as much made the fight against the two Uber Soldats later in the game not as bad.

Waveflack: I only managed to kill that thing through repeated save state use. That was quite a chore.

The bottom line is, the original term was CrossBow, but for the European and American audiences. It was changed, due to religious conflicts. Yet, in later releases of CastleVania sometime after CastleVania SOTN in was named Cross Bow again.

My understanding is that the original Japanese version called it the cross. Please show me a pic of the Japanese insrtuction book where it is labelled as crossbow and I will eat my words.

Do I make myself comprehensible Mr.rbudrick?

'Fraid not, bro. However, you were correct to address me in a way that denotes my superiority. Hey, whatevr you're comfortable with man.

In no way, did I make inaccuracy in what I have stated, for I have referred to this weapon within the game for many years beforehand.

I checked the instructions for Vampire Killer (MSX) and Haunted Castle (Arcade). This weapon is not present,in the MSX game and is called the Boomerang in the arcade game, so what do you mean?

Again, I assure you, I never took this seriously, I made one comment about what the weapon was called, and you mistakenly put down the classic slang, leaving you wide open for direct hit or let me say this.."YA DIG?"

On the contrary,I think you took it a little too seriously. What on earth is "the classic slang?" I hardly consider myself wide open. JUst post a scan of where it is called a crossow...that's all I want to see. You can say "ya dig" all you want...just use it in context, ok?

In conclusion, I stick to my theory, I am not the one to be trifled with, and therefore Cross Boomerang would be a better word at this time, yet I feel the slang CrossBow was well put, because in CastleVania Bloodlines it was changed to Boomerang-like-object, so I can see the current clash for both terms.

So now it's just a theory? I'll keep in mind that you are not the one to be trifled with. That is important information that we should all consider. I'll write that down. LOL

According to the Castlevania manual it is called a Boomerang, but like many others I always called it a Cross as a little kid.

Back on topic, I feel that Mike Tyson is definately one of the hardest bosses in any game. The reason many people think he is easy, is because you have played him HUNDREDS of times. The fact that there is a code that brings you to him so anyone can practice fighting him whenever they want, makes him easier to master. If you think he is easy, try to think back to when you first faced him. His punches seemed lightning fast!!!
I also think that Death is insanely hard if you don't have either a triple shot of Holy Water or a Boomerang (cross). If you do have either one, he is pretty easy though.

I got another bitch... I just beat Ganbare Goemon 4 for the Super Famicom, and I can say that the finale against the bad guy, Maguamuge, is a freaking ordeal. It's not your conventional boss fight... in fact, all that the fight is is a friendly game of catch... with the FREAKING DEATH STAR as the ball. I wish I could say more, but... it's just indescribable. It is ungodly frustrating, though.
