I thought this was the weirdest thing I'd seen in awhile. I didn't know Interact made actual VMUs for the Dreamcast! The look like they might be even more comfortable to use than the official ones. Anyone with any experience with these?

Interesting. I've seen their normal memory cards for the Dreamcast, but never anything like that. Kinda neat looking. Did the standard VMU provide calendar functions? I can't recall, and it's been so long since I've had fresh batteries in one that I can't check it on my own.

The standard VMU functions are the file manager, game, and clock (within which you can adjust some settings). They do not include calendar functions. I think I just might have to bid on one of these just to find out what they're like! :P

Play-Asia have them for cheap at the moment. I have got one, but i still prefer the official ones, although battery life seems better for the interact vmu.

Here in Canada there was a company named Pelican that made them as well.

So there actually are people that use the VMUs on their own... I'll be damned.

There was another company that made VMUs too... although I forget who offhand. I got in a few, but after more than a few hours of work none of them do anything any more.

I've never seen a Sega-released one fail. Personally, I'd stick with them.

I never knew another company made anything other than a "memory card" for the DC. The VMU rarely did anything worth mentioning, sadly, so I'll stick with my Sega 4X Memory Card.

hmm learn something new everyday, i never seen one of those - only the cheap regular memory cards...but eh, i never had much use for a vmu, the only thing outside of saving my game i used it for was the mini adventure game in skies of arcadia

I don't think they crammed 6 VMU mini-games into Time Stalkers for nothing. ;)
