Anyone have a recommendation on the best peripheral joystick to find for the 5200? I'll mainly be playing arcade port games. Also, preferably recommend one I'll be able to actually find :)
If you have any opinions on a peripheral joystick for the NES, that would be appreciated too.
Thanks in advance!

For the 5200, I always liked the Wico joystick. There's a separate keypad you can get or you can connect it with the standard joystick with an adaptor. As far as the NES goes, I've heard of the Advantage...not sure if I've ever used one myself though I do have the Super Advantage which is the SNES version. :onfire:

Yeah, the Wico Command Control is pretty good. At least, it's a lot better than the stock sticks for many games.
If you want to buy one or more of them on ebay, try to find an auction where they are bundled with a system but NOT advertised in the title. You'll have to scour through a bunch of auction pictures, but you may be able to save some bucks. That's how I picked up two of them (and a working system with a couple of carts) for less than the price that a single Wico stick usually fetches when auctioned by itself. Of course, then you'd have to contend with your guilty conscience for having taken advantage of a clueless seller, but c'est la vie.

You can also get a masterplay, or a y-adaptor, and use any 2600,7800,Genesis controller. I haven't checked prices in awhile, so I don't what they normally go for.
I picked mine up the way bargora mentioned. The masterplay was not mentioned in the auction title or the description, but was in the picture. After reselling the items I didn't need, the masterplay was just about free.
For the NES, I'd go with the Advantage. I loved that stick way back in the day, and it's still my favorite for the NES.

Make your own or hack an Atari stick to work with it. Also, Neo Geo pads and joysticks work good because they don't use encoders. Pinouts are at www.gamesx.com

Thanks for the tips guys!
I do have a PS2 controller that's been wired to work on a 2600, would that work on a 5200? Sorry if I seem like too much of a rookie with that question, but I haven't even gotten hold of a 5200 console yet
