While the details about which games from the Mega Man X series will be included haven't been revealed, the footage shown at the event contained clips from several games in the series. More importantly, the trailer for the game showed off what we assume will be one of the unlockables in the game, Mega Man Battle and Chase. The PlayStation game that took assorted characters from the Mega Man universe and dropped them in a kart game was never released in the US.
While no platforms were specified, aside from a vague mention of a multiplatform release, it is expected it's safe to assume the compilation will at least hit the PlayStation 2.
At the same press event, Capcom announced Capcom Classics Collection, a compendium of classic games from the veteran Japanese developer that will draw on its sizable portfolio of games. Specifics on which games will be included weren't given, but Capcom reps on hand stated that the games in the compilation will include old-school favorites, such as some of those seen in the Capcom Generations compilations released in Japan for the Saturn and PlayStation, as well as some games that have never been playable on a home console before.
While Capcom reps remained tight-lipped on the specifics of the games in the compilation, it's probably safe to assume that old-school classics such as Bionic Commando and Final Fight are candidates. As with the Mega Man X Collection, Capcom didn't specify which platform the game would be coming out for, but a PlayStation 2 version is almost guaranteed

I pray at night in hopes that this compilation comes out for the GameCube. Like the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, it only makes sense to release a version on the GameCube seeing as once again, most of the games probably origionated on a Nintendo system.
If a GCN one does come, I hope the programmers are smart enough to include a controller option. Jumping with B and shooting with A felt so awkward.

If they include Bionic Commando, you won't have to worry about that, at least not where jumping's concerned... ;)

I Know what you mean about the buttons. IT SHOULD BE B BUTTON TO FIRE, A TO JUMP. Anyone who played the old games Knows that.
But this collection sounds pretty damn sweet too. If its for the cube, Im getting it no questions asked.

I like the PSX collection, where each game had it's own disc.
It'd be cool if maybe they did a 3-disc collectors set.
Disc 1: Megaman 1-8
Disc 2: Megaman X series
Disc 3: Megaman Neo games (or Legends, whatever)

Capcom Collection is sounding good, hope that gets multiplatform release.
Only X games I like are X and X2, and they work just fine on the SNES... I'll stick to that. X3-X6 just became to "anime", X is so pointy... and Zero took over... haven't touched X7 or X8, don't care to.

I seriously thought it was a waste of 10 bucks(CC $5 sale, I bought mine off a CAGer with a slight markup) when I played x7 the "3d" ish stages was a complete drag. I haven't touched it since

lol they sure are!
But I think they should have just included all the X games on the megaman collection game already available. that would be one killer collection!!

Great news. :D
I'm going to take a guess that these will probably be released on the Gamecube as well - Capcom has given it more support than most third party publishers.
And if that doesn't happen, I'll just pick it up for the PS2.

X is Mega Man by Title alone! No need to taint the perfection that is the Original series by putting its annoying counterpart in what is supposed to be a celebration of Mega Man's aniversary!

There is a potentially really good thing to come of this, and that is the animated cutscenes used in the PC / Saturn release of Mega Man X3. If they were added in the compilation hopefully they'll be of higher video quality than what the Saturn supported (and the AVI compression in the PC port is terrible).

Considering that Capcom used the inferior PS1 version of Megaman 8 instead of the superior Saturn version in the first Megaman collection, I won't be holding my breath.
And I would not be surprised at all if the Cube version had another stupid control mis-hap (Atomic Planet: "Well, we though the only reasonable thing to do for the Cube version was assign Jump to the Z button and fire to the Down direction on the D pad")

awsome now I can actulay play X3 without emulating it They did make MMX3 for the PC for Win95, I believe. It was actually far superior to the SNES / PS versions, if I remember correctly. You don't need to emulate that.

I'm almost 100% sure its going to be X1-6, as 7 and 8 were PS2 games, and they wouldn't stick both of them together on one disc when you can still buy those 2. I like the idea, but I dont think that they should release a 'Collection' unless you can stick the whole series on there. Oh well, I have most of the X games, but I'm sure I'll buy this anyways.

I also hope that if the game has remixed music, that both versions get it. I can get around the backwards buttons, but I needs remixed tracks on my GC version.

Same here. Mega Man Collection was a rare case where I took the PS2 version over the GC one becuase of the remixed music and the reversed controls.
Of course, I sold that last week and have the Xbox version on pre-order. :P

I have that version. It came out in November 1998, I believe and it's actually a port of the PSX/Saturn remake of Mega Man X3.
