We've all got our milestones, whether it be "game number 1000", "complete collection x", "obtain all Activision cartridges", etc.

Each time you reach a milestone this year, enter it into this thread. It should be fun to check back in a year later to see what kind of progress we all made.

I was on vacation this past weekend, and upon arriving home, i had a package waiting for me. that package contained Sports Jam for Dreamcast.... the very last Dreamcast game i needed for a complete US set. all official releases (including all 3 browsers), bleemcasts, sonic and shenmue le, official DC magazine demos...

I wanted to hit the 500 individual game mark.
Started the year off just over 300 and earlier this week i hit the 325 marker.

Now i just need to get enough cash to buy the games.
I really need a job...

Some minor goals along the way are
20 SNES individual titles CIB (currently 5-8)
100 NES individual titles CIB (55 currently)
30 Genesis individual titles CIB (15ish currently)
30 DC Individual titles CIB (18ish currently)
All of the Mortal Kombat games CIB for each system i own (about20 w/out variations)

my milestone is to get everything off on my wanted list and work on getting a lot of wonderswan games. its the only system that i actually want to have the complete catlague for (still debating whether to collect special edition ws consoles as well)

-I hit 300 games total on January 17'th. The game that put me there was 007 Agent Under Fire for the Gamecube.

-I got my 40'th Gamecube game (Ikaruga) on January 27'th. I'm currently at 43.

I guess the only thing I want to achieve in 2005 is that I get more SMS games, probably off of eBay, or trading since they are pretty rare around here.... my 2004 milestone was pretty unrealistic, so hopefully this one can be accomplished. :D

Current stats of my collection:

Games: About 130-135.

Consoles: 18 unique, 21 total.

My current top collection is NES games, with 29. Lowest? I only have 1 Game Boy Advance game and 1 SC-3000 game. I only 2 games for each of these consoles: Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Game.com, PlayStation 2, TI-99, TRS-80 and Virtual Boy.

I sometimes can't believe how far I've taken my first year of game collecting. I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and hope it only continues to grow. I will complete every sega collection sooner or later. ;D

A few goals for this year :

1. Collect all unique NA RE games - Just need RE Gaiden (pending) and for my limited edition RE4 to arrive. This one is a slam dunk for sure.

2. Collect remaining NA RE variants. Basically just PSX GH/non GH/dual shock variations of RE 1-3. Not extremely difficult, just depends how much energy and $ I feel like using.

3. Collect remaining Biohazard games. Not that likely unless I make another trip overseas. Prices are pretty inflated when buying them online from Canada.

4. Finish up my NA SMS collection. About 25 to go. Not too bad except for Buster Douglas. I'll probably accept Heavyweight champ in lieu of that.

5. Enjoy the games that I've collected so far. :D Easy!

My collecting milestones are probably going to be some of the strangest, because I have decided that I want to mostly stop buying games (*gasp!*) until I have played some more.

The first is to play all of the Xbox, GameCube and opened Dreamcast games that I own. I have probably 10 Xbox titles I haven't played, two or three GameCube titles and about 50 Dreamcast titles.

The second is to beat a bunch of games that I started and either am really enjoying or stopped playing for a long time. I don't know why, but I'm HORRIBLE at beating games... I get to about 90% of the way and then stop on games I love. I don't know why I do it, but I do. Anyway, these games I want to beat include:

Xbox Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Xbox Star Wars: KOTOR
Xbox Headhunter Redemption
Xbox Dead to Rights
GameCube Metroid Prime
GameCube Mario Kart: DD
Dreamcast Headhunter (one of my favorite games of all time... I stopped playing about about 95% done!)
Dreamcast Grandia II (literally... last boss battle)
Playstation Grandia (gotta figure out where the heck I put it)
Playstation or GameCube Metal Gear Solid
Playstation Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4 (in Origins and Anthology or whatever it is)
NES Emulator Earthbound Zero

I also have a Dreamcast goal that I think is pretty much mine alone:

I want to publish at least four more titles this year. Since I am currently complete with the systems I love to collect for (Jaguar and DC), and the only other things I collect are relatively stupid stuff just to say I have it (Action Max, anyone?? Didn't think so...), I have found that my favorite thing to have is a new Dreamcast title. And with the games that I know should be coming, I'm extremely, extremely excited to get to play the final versions myself :) The future of the Dreamcast may be a lot better than people think :D

I just passed the 1,700 mark on my collection. I was at 1,699 and I just won some auctions for 4 games, bringing me to 1703. I should make it past the 2,000 mark hopefully by springtime.

I am switching gears right now. I used to want to own every game available for my favorite systems. I have decided to focus on just the good titles. The really good titles. I don't have a lot of money to spend on games so I may as well get the best bang for my buck. I am doing this by picking up collections of 5 to 20 games from eBay and selling off the unwanted stuff. I can usually end up getting the games I want to keep for a fraction of their individual price.

Another goal of mine is to NOT have to sell of my collection again. Financial reasons. :/

I just want to get some of the better titles for the systems and then start knocking out the harder to find ones if I like those.

Also try and keep up with all the stuff coming out.

Last year I had one milestone reached and that was to get to play one of my top 3 favorite games on every system it was made for. That is ;

Demon Attack

So in my collection is the systems and cartridges for;

Atari 2600
Atari 8bit
Intellivision
Vic 20
Tandy
TI 99 4/A
PC JR.
Odyssey

And a sealed disk for the Commodore 64. The odyssey version is in a 128 in 1 miulti cart which was easier to get than the original. It took 2 years of waiting till the PC JR. one came up on eBay and it only cost me $20. Some people must have been watching because the next two brought in $40 and $50 within 3 weeks so I think I got a bargain.

The Atari versions rule. The 8bit being my favorite. Haven't taken the cart out of my 400 for years. probably stuck in there!

Still haven't found a new obsession yet.

3. Get a psp and keep up with all the games, besides sports

Greetings Programs.

In 1981 My parents celebrated my moving out by buying my sister a 2600. I wanted something a bit more than just a game system so a year later in 1982 I bought a Sinclair ZX81 and a few months later my first game. Chess. Followed by a flight simulator and some maze game.

A year after that in 1983, to celebrate my first job I bought my first console. A Coleco. Stopping at the video store on the way home from buying this Coleco I saw they had rental games for sale. So instead of renting I bought my first used games. Smurfs and Frenzy. Only a month later my sister got tired of the 2600 and my parents let me "borrow" it. And only a few months after that the video store sold me a used Intellivision for $20.

Three consoles. One obsession. A new job with a chunky raise in 1985 and the demise of the video game world meant one had to look to computers. So $700 later I had an Atari 800xl setup to die for.

So the precedent started 20 years ago. Yard sales in the mid 80's started turning up video games. Buy it used gets lots more. More MORE!

Yesterday I got a Nintendo DS. this makes 52 different "systems" I have games for. After updating my game inventory from the last 4 months I noticed my total was up to 1003 games. I really can't say which was the 1000th game so I am going to consider it the metroid demo that came with the DS.

Come a long way from that ZX81 chess game....

I did some counting and found out I have over 50 racing games in my collection - 57, to be exact. Looking through my record of previous purchases, number 50 was GT Advance 3: Pro Concept Racing on the GBA, which I purchased in January.

I also hit 300 NES games a while ago. Considering I've been collecting NES for 2 months, thats pretty good. LOL

I know this sounds crazy, but by 2006, I want to have completed the NES library.

Well, I am rapidly nearing the 1000 game mark. Currently at 928, and will probably pass the 1000 mark by the end of April. While that is a nice milestone all in itself, I have my sights set on several other goals this year. My NES collection is currently at 466 games. This includes many of the rarer titles which would normally take me a long time to get. With approximately 300 games left to go, it should be fairly easy for me to finish off the collection by the end of the year. With the end in sight for my NES collection, I've also begun to collect for several other systems I hadn't previously been serious about. I hope to get a complete Virtual Boy, 32x, and Master System collection. I'm also aiming at a 7800 collection, but I don't care so much about that system being complete.

Just completed one "goal", a doki doki panic cart.

I got one a few months ago also. Took me over a year to get it. It was the hardest game for me to get out of my whole collection and I got some REALLY rare games and they didn't even touch how hard it was to get a Doki Doki Panic cart. Wish the guide would reflect it's rarity instead of being a zero :( It should be more like an 8 or a 9.

My milestone has been gaining focus for my collecting.
I am a NES only collector, with the same goal as many other collectors- the elusive "one of each" collection.

I switched gears into buying rarities instead of buying "bulk" games to fill common holes. The way this classic NES game market is moving, I believe that in years to come, these games will be worth much more than they are today- thus, I am better served getting the "expensive" ones today while they are still pretty cheap rather than waiting for tommorow when a Maxi-15 or a Peek-A-Boo poker sells for 4-Digit prices.

My goal for this year is to finally finish my unliscensed NES collection. Been on that one since 96. Then pick up some more boxes/instructions I need. I have over 80 of the games complete so I think that leaves 48 to go, not counting those pirate things that may have been sold in the US.

This year I got all the NTSC 2600 Tigervision games (only took 7 years). Also over 500 unique titles now for that system. Also completed the 7800 library of games.

As far as the rest of the year, I would like to ocmplete my 32x and Virtual Boy collections, still quite away to those. And concentrate more on the expensive rarer games for SNES, PSX, and Genny.

That is totally awesome Anagrama! Congrats on such a great milestone. I just need Buster Douglas Kayo Boxing to complete the US Sega Master games. And as I already started to hunt Euro SMS games, I can say you are my hero :)

I reached 50 Gamecube games today, thanks to a couple games that arrived in the mail: Metal Arms: Glitch In The System, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. I'm at 51 total now.

Bought 4 games today, which put me precisely at 500 games. That's all my console and Amiga games together, plus I've got another 60 or so PC games which I'm not counting ^^

I have decided to devote my life to my Dreamcast collection, I'm at 57 or 58 games now. I hope to end the new year with at least 100 - 150. Its gonna be hard.

All I need right now is The King of Fighters: Dream Match 99. But I can't seem to get my mits on it.

Well I hit my 100th NES game back in March, and I'm currently at 129.

My main goal this year is to finish off the "black box" games without paying out the nose for the DK's. After that I'm going to finish out every NoA NES game.

2 realistc goals I belive.

I started collecting heavily with the intent of gaining a massive NES collection, but I have realized that I don't care for about 70% of the games out there. So after I get done with the above I'm going to start focusing on the NES games I actually want (to play) and NoA games across every other system (will have to buy a GC & DS sometime, hopefully after price drops).

2005 milestone (so far):

My 27th year of collecting! :D

Just reached over 100 games for my Intellivision, which will probably be about it, as they are just getting hard to find (the rare ones of course).

My Odyssey2 (w/imports) collection went over 150 games last month, and will rise more really, really soon. This, of course, is the collection I'm most proud of - as if anyone couldn't tell by my other post, sig, and such. ;)

My Lynx collection should hit 100+ this year (currently at 94 and counting).

My total collection will hit 800 really soon too. This is currently at 795!

Welcome to my biggest personal milestone yet. As I post this tonight at 1:55 am on 4-24-05 eastern time, I have added my 500th game to my collection. The lucky game was Championship Bowling (cart and a sliced box) for the NES. My friends gave me a belated birthday present of all their old NES games and a Power Pad and they pushed me over 500. Here's the awesome part:

I began collecting in september of 2004. On 9-24-04, I reached game #250. It had taken my my whole life to get most of those games. It was Operation Wolf, an NES game. Now, exactly 6 months later to the day, I have doubled the amount of games I own from 250 to 500. Never in my life would I have dreamed of such a thing. Thanks to everyone who made this possible both at home and here on DP. Here's to the next 500 everyone! :cheers:
