Does anyone know any history behind the printing error shown in this picture?

http://www.game-rave.com/variant/ff8.jpg

Just curious because I happened to get a second copy of the GH version of Final Fantasy VII, and since I don't care to have two copies of the game, one's gotta go. Is it safe to assume that the misprint is considerably rarer than the correct print run? Is it rare enough to be worth keeping or did a lot get released like that? And finally, is there any difference in value?

I have a FF7 GH.

I don't know what I'm susposed to be looking at. What is the pic exactly off? What is normal vs the misprint?

I'm pretty shure its the miss print only, there is supposed to be a ship on the other (left) side.

I've never seen this before but, and I've had a couple of greatest hits. But that doesn't exactly mean it rare.

One side is supposed to have the airship picture, the other side Sephiroth.
The error in the picture we see here is that both sides have Sephie.

Wow, my web page is being used =)

As for the GH misprint with the ship, I've only seen it twice, but Sony's pretty consistant with printer goofs so it doesn't really make them that rare. There's actually 2 more known FF7 printing changes if you scroll further down the web-page with the misplaced I in 'masterpiece' in the back and the changed ESRB ratings.

The only 'true' misprint that I would consider rare so far are the wrong-game-on-wrong dsic ones, plus the Syphon Filter 3 alternate cover. I know of 4 'wrong discs ones' (I have the "rugrats on a namco museum disc") so far.

The most common printing errors I'be noticed, especially in the launch months, are goofs with the accessory icons and ESRB ratings.

Good ol' sony. When they mean disc read error, they MEAN it.

I check the site all the time, it's very useful. :)

How was it that you've only seen the GH misprint twice? Do you mean on eBay and such, or actual physical copies that have passed through your hands? If the latter, how many copies (rough guess) of the GH version have you had? I'm just trying to get an idea of the ratio between correct printings and the mistake.

Aussie:
Physical contact in stores. Whenever I go shopping I pretty much rifle through every single flipping case they have, looking for that one little thing that sets off the Danger-Alarm.

Also, being employee of a retail game store allows me privelage to rifle through stores back stock and 'guts', so that helps with checking PSRM/SLUS-SCUS comparisons and the (insert swear word) Working Design variants.

I've actually freaked out a few employees at some other stores who didn't know me form before hand...they keey thinking I'm trying to steal when I unpeal the sticker sealed games (like at game crazy) when all I want to know is what artwork it is. ^_^

Does anyone else have a copy of FF7 with, i think it was, the word "masterpiece" misprinted? My copy has the i floating around in the middle of the sentance spacing. It is not a GH version, I just wondered if this is a common thing or not.

Twas a first run error.... It took me a while to find mine actually. No clue on actual count, but its not one that I see all the time.

If you click on the WD whore link in my sig, and scroll down farther on that page, you can see pics of it there.

I'm not sure about whether it's common or not, but you can count me as another person that has a copy with that misprint.

It looks like it was the second run of FFVII that had the "masterpiece" error. I just checked mine and it is the original print (with the original ESRB) and the error is not there.

*edit* oops didn't notice that this was already mentioned.
