from 1UP.COM:
Two interesting Xbox-related rumors popped up on the web today. According to popular gizmo website Engadget, the official name for the next generation Xbox, often referred to as Xbox Next, Xbox 2, or Xenon, is actually "Xbox 360." According to Engadget, the name was test-marketed and a source working on the project has confirmed it to them.
:hmm:

wow thats a really un-catchy name for a console. I think xbox 2 or xbox next were good, but xbox 360 is just strange. reminds me of skateboarding games like tony hawk or...a circle :)

I kinda doubt that's the real name. Will it cost $360 at launch? Will it have a skateboarding pack in game? Maybe its round. :P

First off, we have GameCUBE and XBOX. Next off, Revolution and 360 (which is basically the same thing). Nintendo-Microsoft conspiracy? That's for you to decide.

Maybe it's 360X as powerful as Xbox (1)?

Hey, 360 degrees gets you right back where you started. So what they're trying to say is they're just going to push the original XBox for the next 5 years. Zing!

360 degrees is probably about 200 degrees less than the operating temperature of PS3.

Why would a box be round?

On Valentines Day, you'll buy a heart shaped "box of chocolates".
A box is a container, not a geometric shape.

I think they're trying to capitalize off the outstanding success of the hottest new show on TV, "Dance 360" (check local listings). That show kicks ass. Stoned.

I'm still gunna go with what i heard awhile back "X2" but i'm thinkin MS will stay away from callin it Xbox2 or anything with 2 into since the Playstation3 will also be launched at roughtly the same time.
You know how any companys think-tank works, they don't wanna confuse there core market, so 3 is better than 2 so we can't go with 2! LOL

I think it should be called the Microsoft Monstrosity, and should weigh 50 pounds and should be a actual PC shoved inside a lead box.

I've never heard of this site before (and that doesn't mean much) but they claim to have some details on the Xbox 360.

Legit or BS?
*shrugs* I surely don't know, but it makes for some fun speculation while we wait to hear.
