My fellow Okies, I've made a trip back down to OKC for the week. Maybe a few of us can get together for some gaming at Cactus Jacks. (or somewhere else...) I dont know how many Okies we have here and I dont know how many of 'em check the Events & Gatherings section but hopefully a couple of you will be interested! Better ideas? Post 'em! Know another Okie on the site? Let 'em know about the thread! 8-)

Hey Cleatis, I hope we're still on. I'll give you a call this afternoon. Unfortunately, some dumbass (me) left his cell phone at work over the weekend -- I just got your messages this morning.
I'll give you a call this afternoon and see what's up.

The rest of you guys missed out. Cleatis and I had a good time this evening at Cactus Jack's -- as good of a time as possible with the crappy game selection (that place is really going downhill).
I won at foosball, air hockey, and pinball. Cleatis kicked my butt at everything else, from fighting games to Metal Slug to even Galaga. I need to practice more!

I needed a good day at the arcade. Arcades are really hard to find in my area these days. (Everett, WA) Jacks was definatly a let down but at least I was in good company. With the acception of air hockey and foosball, we were sure to avoid any game that required movement beyond the wrists because its always been my belief, If you gotta work for it, it aint a game...thats real life!

Memo to self: bet on next game of Galaga I play against Flack. That is all.

In my defense, the Galaga cabinet was one of those 20 year anniversary ones, and the monitor was both huge and bright. I'm guessing those are 29" or something? Of course Cleatis had no problem with it (young whippersnapper) but when I was playing it was like sitting three inches away from a big screen TV.
I think we both went two of four at Samurai Shodown III. Cleatis kicked my ass at it the first time around, and then I lucked into a character with some wicked special move that just seemed to annihilate everything on the screen. Not sure how I was doing it, but, uh, go me.
I won Air Hockey 7 to 6 .. and I own a damn table.
Basically we had the entire place to ourselves except for a Mexican birthday party which had about 10-15 people there. The saddest part (other than the removal of most of the classics) were the conversions that have been done there. The old MK4 cabinet had been converted to a bowling game. Rave Racer said Ridge Racer across the top and Galaxian 3 on the side. Tetris was obviously in a Capcom cabinet.
On pinball, Cleatis again whooped me the first round, but the second game I somehow blew up a UFO in Attack from Mars (dumb luck) and scored 500,000,000 points. Which, btw, I think I should get to use and add where needed on all the other games I lost at tonight, which should bring my average up quite nicely.

I did have a chance to warm up a little while I was waiting for you to arrive. 8-)

I spent a couple years as a teen working the arcade area of Billie Balloos<sp> (if you remember that place on NW Expressway & Rockwell). I didnt do much work so I had pleanty of time to hone my Air Hockey skills. I rarely lose to people so give yourself some credit! Besides, It didnt look like either of us were on top of our game at that time.

You got that right. I thought I FINALY found a Killer Instinct 2 cab...nope it was tennis.
I wanted to get together again (not at Cactus though) but once my wife flew in, everybody in the family wanted to visit with us. EEEEEeeeverybody loves my wife.   (...I know what youre thinking... :hmm: )
Were thinking about moving down there late this year.

I know exactly how it goes. Last time I was in Chicago I got to hang out with QoF for like an hour and I was there a week.
You really can't beat Oklahoma. Sure, it's not as exciting as some other parts of the country but you've got everything you need at one of the cheapest costs of living in the country.

Oh yeah. I spent 200k on a house with enough land to hold the house. SERIOUSLY...I can look out my back window, through the house behind us, into the house across the street from them. My mother is a real estate agent so she showed us some houses in OK and we fell in love. (Ive loved OK since I moved away, my wife is from NY) We found a house in The Greens for 150k, it was a nice house, the back yard was pretty big but the coolest part was that there was no house behind it...it was a freaking GOLF COURSE outside the backyard!! Now if I can get a job that pays high enough to cover the mortgage, Ill be there!!
