I always wondered why everone liked this game so much, until I recently found out its a 10 man killing fest!
I really want this game badly now, whats a reasonable price to pay for a complete copy?

It still is the ultimate Bomberman to this day

Saturn Bomberman is cheaper if you imported (under $25 or so)

US Saturn is about $40+

Good luck grabbing a copy for under 30 bucks. It shows up on ebay every now and then but it's one of the more expensive games in the library. It's defenitely worth the money though!

Ahhh, my favorite game.

While DP's online price guide clocks US Saturn Bomberman at $40, personally I seen a lot of copies lately that have gone down in price.

They can be had anywhere from $28 to about $35.

Although it's the kind of game I'd pay 50 bucks for and not feel bad about it... it's THAT good (and valuable in terms of longevity that makes plunking down 50 bones not such a bad idea)

Stay the course and I'm sure you can find a copy for under 35 bucks. Great game.

I'm sorry, but

Bomberman 64 > Saturn Bomberman

How can you think that? 4 players vs. 10 players?

There's no acounting for taste..

Bomberman 64 took a 2D franchiese into a 3D world almost perfectly, it added so much more onto the gameplay.

Well, I guess if you're playing Bomberman for the single player experience, you might welcome such a change. I think it makes it awkward, and is unneccessary.

I think most people feel that Bomberman's strength is the multiplayer game, and 6-10 player Bomberman is without equal.

BTW, lemme add that "Saturn Bomberman Fight!!" is a MUST HAVE for any Saturn Bomberman fan. It took the series into 3D well. I really think it complements Saturn Bomberman well. They're both in my top 15 Saturn games.

I played Bomberman 64 and just couldn't get into it. Fight!! is much better.

for sure the number one party game all time for me. as long as your party is made up of between 4-16 dorks. which isnt much of a problem for my friends.

That game is king of the multiplayer genre.

It's not quite the best multiplayer ever. I am afraid that title is taken by another Saturn game ... Death Tank Zwei :D

But Bomberman is a very close second. Bomberman Fight! is good, but most people I know that are not hardcore gamers greatly prefer Saturn Bomberman - it's got everything you need and retains the essential simplicity.

In terms of 3D versions, the Dreamcast Bomberman game was pretty fun too. But I have to say that the Saturn Bomberman is the best that I have encountered so far.

I have yet to get 10 players ... but the day will come!! I've managed 8, and that was helluva lot of fun!

Saturn Bomberman is great fun, but Bomberman Online is a lot better. I wish Hudson would go ahead and port the both of them to Xbox Live!

I have just looked all over for this game. It appears that is is a hidden game in Duke Nukem 3D??? Is this true??? can you fill us in?? I must try it :D

Wavelflack
02-07-2005, 06:35 PM
Yeah, it's in Duke 3D. You can get it by either beating the game and shooting every toilet in the game, or by having a Powerslave or Quake save file present in your Saturn's memory.

it's really, really fun. I think it supports 8 players. Think Worms, but without the turns.

Vroomfunkel

Ditto what Waveflack said.

Either (A) complete Duke Nukem and destory every toilet in the game (including the hidden giant toilet) and save your game.

Or (B) save a game from Quake or Exhumed (Powerslave in the US) into your Saturn memory

When you go to the main menu on Duke, there will be an option at the bottom for Death Tank. Select, and away you go!

It is very much like playing Worms without taking turns. Or, if you have played 'Scorched Earth' on the PC, it is like that.

One of my friends is currently making a PC version of Death Tank, which you can find at www.groundfire.net

Despite appearances, he is still working on it!! You can have up to seven players at once on Death Tank. Also, the game will save your scores and stats in its own save file on your Saturn memory.

PLUS ... it remembers all the names that you enter, and when you play further games it will bring up the right letters when you start to enter your name, rather than having to scroll all the way through the alphabet every single time. Just a simple thing, that probably doesn't take more than 10 lines of code at the most - but is so nice to have in a game!! Why don't ALL games do this??

The game is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of multiplayer console gaming. Even my die-hard Nintendo-luvvin friends (yeah, I have them) love this game. One of them even bought a Saturn for it alone!

I have heard that the US and the Euro versions are slightly different? That the US version is just 'Death Tank' and the Euro version is 'Death Tank Zwei' and has a few tweaks. I've only played the Euro version, which is indeed Death Tank Zwei. And it kicks ass!!!!!

Finaly got a copy of this game for a decent price. I just have a question, in multiplayer can you turn bots on for like 1 human vs 9 bots?

I never even knew there was a bomberman on saturn until very recently. From what I played it was an awesome game, expecially how you get 10 guys on the screen at once. I might consider getting a saturn just for it.

My family loves Super Bomberman 2 for the SNES. Does the Saturn have good wireless controllers or at least optional extension cords?

Considering the plugs are completely different, that would be a no.

Hmm, never had much trouble with the bot players myself. Occasionally they were sneaky, but even set on the higher levels, they tended to be a bit slow.

Anyway, there are wireless controllers for the Saturn. In the US there are only 3rd party ones, but in Japan and Europe there were official Sega infra red pads. Both of which will cost you a pretty penny ... but they are so damn good, it is almost worth it! Not sure that you'll be able to have more than two wireless pads in at the same time though.

Come to think of it, I don't think that the infra red receiver is compatible with the multitap at all.

Last time I looked there were controller extensions all over ebay though, so that might be your best bet.

What about if you are playing with 10 people? Are the Saturn controller cords long enough without using extension cords? I am considering buying a Saturn just for this game. It is a great party game, as it is simple, yet fun. If I can have 10 players as opposed to just 4 at a time, that will be even better.
