I fondly remember BallBlazer. And just the other day I was looking at Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup. While I have no desire whatsoever to buy a Madden or NBA game, for some reason I feel like I could enjoy a sports game based on a sport that doesn't exist.
So what other non-realistic sports games can you suggest for me? (I would also be curious about sports games that involve real sports but have such deformed rules as to make them non-realistic. Would "Mutant League Football" be such a game?)

Looney Tunes B-Ball lets you do things like throw pies at your opponent and such, I think. There's also the futuristic Super Baseball 2020 which lets you play with armor and with robot players. Speaking of robots, there's the all robot Basewars...any close play at a base and the fielder and the runner get to battle to see who wins. The Jaguar got Brutal Sports Football which is another one of those "out there" kind of games...I'm guessing it may be similar to Mutant Sports Football...or is this one more like a soccer game? All the ones I've mentioned are basically real games given some odd rules...I'm sure there are more games of sports that don't exist at all, though. Did anyone ever make a Rollerball game?

Bill Lambeer's Combat Basketball ( I think was the title).
My understanding is that the game stunk to high heaven.

Brutal Sports Football is some sort of cross between soccer, US football and rugby... and it ROCKS!

Speedball 2100 on Playstation
Very fun game.
I was never really able to play more than a few minutes at a time though.
But it was like Football mixed with Soccer and other sports.
I think it was pretty original but i haven't played many sports style games to start with other than the plain old Football, Basketball, etc.
Right after posting i saw Goatdans' post (seconds ahead of mine) The game i am talking about is similair but set in the future and your people get armor and points and upgradeable skills and stuff.
Or something like that....

If you like Ballblazer and you happen to have a 3DO, I strongly suggest you check out Battlesport. It's like Ballblazer with guns and rockets. The graphics are actually pretty good for a 3DO game...it's not one of those early 3D games that's unplayable because it's so choppy. Played this one for the first time over the weekend. I dig it.

My brother and I loved a good game of Brutal Sports Football. There was also a similar game on the Genny endorsed by Jerry Glanville. I think the title was Jerry Glanville's Full Contact Footbrawl. If your Team was losing very badly, an ultra powerful Troll would be called in to even the odds and score. Good times.
Also, what about Ribbit King. Frolf isn't real last I checked.

One of my favorite games of this type is Sega Soccer Slam. 3-on-3 soccer with odd characters that can do big powerup moves.

Let's not forget about good ol' Cyberball 2020 from Atari. It's like football, but with robots, and they can explode. Goody.

Mecarobot Golf by Tecmo. Awful, awful game. Mode 7 is nice, but the game plays far too slow because of it.

There's Deathrow for Xbox. Plays kind of like a mix between Tron Deadly Discs and basketball.

Great game. I don't even like sports, game or otherwise, most the time, and I love this game.
