The list does grow...

Dynamite Headdy - I thought this game (or at least the American version) was damn near impossible at first, but if you work hard at the stages, learn where all traps are, and find out how all bosses attack, it can be accomplished. Hell, I even won all four Basketball rounds, got a secret code, and fought the real final boss, the Greedy Corporate Tyrant! Goddammit, Treasure rules.

Ristar - So much fun this one was to play. Grabbing and bouncing, grabbing and bouncing... uhhhhhhh... grabbing enemies and bouncing off of them, that is. Nothing perverted there. This game has some real damn awesome boss battles (I especially like the pre-fight sequence with Uranim where he's throwing large bolts at you, and you can't see him offscreen, but you can see him toss it at you via the monitors in the background), and although some of the level designs come a bit too close to imitating stages from Sonic games, Ristar is still excellent regardless.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Beaten, flogged, conquered, obliterated, done, done, DONE! And yet, I'm not done. I'm still playing it to power up my souls... who knows? I may get nine of every single friggin' soul in the game someday.

Dynamite Cop - I played through all three of the normal routes, but I'll be damned if I can beat any of those Showdown levels that don't allow any continues. Great fun, however, definitely worthy as the sequel to Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka.

And my most recent accomplishment...

Bangai-O - All forty-four levels beaten in one day. Does that tell you how addicted I am to this explosion-fest? :D

RE4 (GCN) Sigh soo many Magnum rounds left. I wish I had a chance to use that weapon. Oh well great game. I'll be picking up the PS2 version when that comes out.

So far:

Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube (such an impressive game.)
Ratchet & Clank 2/3
Fahrenheit (also called Indigo Prophecy, Highly recommended!)
Golden Sun 1/2
Casltevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Phantasy Star 1
Astro Boy: The Omega Factor
Super Punch out (for the 1000000th time)
Link's Awakening DX (10000th time)

Also, I finally got a hold of my collection of old PC games, so I've ripped through the Quest for Glory games, the first 2 Secret of Monkey Island games, and Commander Keen 1 and 2.

and the big one:
Super Mario Brothers. I considered this quite a milestone, since as a child I constantly got stumped on 8-4, and if I did find my way through, that damn final hammer brother made a mess of my tiny self. Finally ran under him and took out the big man. What a game.

Since I last posted in this thread (August) I've beaten these:

Killer 7 (GCN)- Freaking awesome game, easily the second best game I've played all year. It had some of the best boss fights I've ever encountered in a game.

Sonic CD (GCN Gems Collection)- I waited roughly 12 years to actually play this game, and I must say it was worth every minute. Easily one of the best Sonic games ever created.

Sonic R (GCN Gems Collection)- It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be, though the soundtrack is nothing short of bizarre. @_@

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS)- Okay, so I technically haven't beaten it (I still need to get Julius mode and the good ending) but whatever, I did get the worst ending. Counts in my book. :P

Jump Superstars (DS)- Awesome smash bros-esque fighter. Any manga fans with a DS should really import this one. Though I still have a few cards left to unlock....

Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan (DS)- Without a doubt the best game I've played this year. It's a music game from the creators of Gitaroo-man that simply couldn't be done any system other than the DS. An absolute must-play.

....I'll add the rest later. :/

Just beat God of War yesterday. Fantastic game and worth every bit of the $35 I spent on it. Wish I hadn't waited two months to play it, but god damn did I have a hell of a lot of fun.

I'm generally not a big fan of boss encounters, but God of War did 'em pretty well.

Next on the plate is Shadow of the Colossus, which pushes my Xbox games futher back into the queue :(

Recently beaten:

Gamecube - Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Really fun game. I love the platforming in this one just as much as the original. Apparently I got the bad ending, as I killed the empress and basically everyone died horribly. From what I read, you have to find all the life upgrades which I apparently missed quite a few of. Oh well, something for another day...

just beat Skies of Arcadia Legends on the Gamecube. Really felt like a classic 16 bit rpg with nice Dreamcast visuals the whole way through.

Oddly enough, it took me 44 1/2 hours to play through, the same amount of time it took me to play through Tales of Symphonia. I wonder if I should test my luck with any other GC RPGs just to see if I can clear them in 44 1/2 hours as well, heh.

to my recollection this year:

splinter cell chaos-theory -3 times (man do i ever love this game) (xbox)

kotor2- at least 5 times altready (xbox)
jade empire- as good a play as kotor (xbox)
LTTP- 2-3 times i think (snes)
shining force neo (ps2)
kingdom hearts (ps2)
smb3 (nes)
star wars bounty hunter (ps2)
star trek elite force (ps2)
nfs-high stakes (ps1)
front mission 4 (ps2)
ace combat 4 (ps2)
evolution (DC)
sega rally 2 (DC)

technically i suppose i can't really add older point-driven games to this, most really don't end, but i suppose high scores i can be satisfied with could count as well :P

Oh man... I've been playing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons on my GameBoy Color and I desperately want to try to beat it before the year is up. I think I'm in the last dungeon, and I've done most of the side-quests (I think), so hopefully with a few hours of gaming in today, I won't have to post this in the "Beaten in 2006" thread.

Nez

Baten Kaitos Finished only took me 60hrs and a few months to beat. Good game but the card system can be a little frustrating and will screw you at the most inapropriate times. Finished all the side quest but one.

Let's see, this year I managed to get all the way through:

Breath of Fire GBA (never beat the original on the SNES)
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (easy mode only so far)
Gyakuten Saiban
Gyakuten Saiban 2
Gyakuten Saiban 3
Kingdom of Paradise
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
Shadow Hearts
Shadowrun SNES
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

There are quite a few games that I've played for quite a while that I unfortunately haven't gotten around to beating yet through:

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones - Probably more than half-way through, the axe/sword boss fight annoyed me to no end though and I actually broke one of my PS2 controllers over this one, haven't touched it since.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant: In Russia at the moment, probably have plenty of stuff left to do.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: Killed everyone up to The Fury, is in the fortress at the moment, but haven't gotten around to playing more.

Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: Quite close to the end here as well, looking for the Vendigroth device at the moment.

Shadowrun Genesis: Close to the end as well, killed off Ogami Ito and is running against Renroku in search of clues at the moment.

cool man, I was going to ask, does it matter the order of completion for ages and seasons? aren't they the same game? Any help on this would be appreciated.
