I checked out goodwill last night and saw they had a Atart 2600 for $15. It included 2 joysticks, power adapter, and TV switch thingy. Is that lower/higher than the 'current' price?

if you dont have one, id say pick it up if its in nice condition
$15 isnt too bad, especially since you will have everything you need to play a game besides the game

I have one, but i broke a few pins on the controller port when I was younger, so you can really do much on the first player slot.

Go for it. $15 is fine to get you a replacement 2600. I've visited your Gamers chain up there in Omaha and they want $40 or so for the same thing. That's the "retro" phenomenon dictating the market :shameful:...

Seriously, how much cheaper can a person reasonably expect for a complete 2600 with all the hook-ups and two joysticks? Honostly, does $15 really seem like a rip-off or something?

Hmm
Actually $15 for something you can see that doesn't have to be shipped isn't a bad price.
It's got me wondering if there is any system that isn't worth at least $15.
A model 2 genesis maybe worth only $10 I dunno..
Specially if you don't have one.

I agree with vulcanjedi. I think that any system that you dont already have is worth 15 dollars with all the hookups and shit. If you are interested in collecting for the 2600, then you should grab it. Even if you arent, you may want to collect for it later. Bottom line is $15 is a good deal since you dont have to worry about shipping charges.

I see Atari 2600's ALL the time for less than $20.
I had to stop buying them because I have to many. :/
But yea that is a Great price for one. Pick it up. :)

Seems like a no-brainer to me. o_O I don't have an Atari 2600, but I know that if I came across one for $15 with the hook-ups and such I snap it up in a second (heck, I would at $20 too).

defianly get it , stores would usually charge $70 for the wooden one for the nostalgia driven casual gamer.

Markets vary. The last five or so I've picked up have all been for less than a dollar. On the one I gave to PDF, I left the "79 cents" price tag on the front of it. I see 2600's for a buck all the time, sitting next to stacks of Sega Genesis units for $5-$10 bucks.

Must be a good location for 2600's :) Last one I got was for $3 and it turned out to be a heavy sixer that was broke. But I still got to keep the 4 mint condition joysticks and sold it for $10 :)

Indeed the markets do vary. My local shops, thrift and games, have piles and piles of Gennys and PS1's in the $10 price range, juxtaposed with $50 toaster NES's (complete with blinking lights) and $75 "omg teh retro!" 4-switch woodgrain 2600's O_O . Good thing I got a dozen or so sitting in the garage 8-) .

I say buy it if you actually want to play the games it offers. I personally wouldn't buy it because I'm not interested in any of the games for it. $15 seems like a fine deal though. The only system that I think isn't worth $15 is a Model 2 Genesis.
