Here's the 411
My sister is moving out soon. I am claiming her bedroom for myself (Its a small box room only big enough to fit a double bed and not a lot else) - This I am going to use as my bedroom as it is a lot cooler in there than the room I currently occupy (The master bedroom!)
When she has vacated, my dad and I are going to be turning my bedroom into a game's room / office area...
It's a respectable 14 foot by 12 foot room (Being the master bedroom), so there is plenty of potential to do whatever we wish.
Basically, we were planning on turning one half into the office area (A place where we can both have our PC's set up and networked) and the other half of the room devoted to game storage Etc...
We were also toying with having a bar in one corner as well, so somewhere me and my mates can chill out and play games.
Although we are having a few designing problems... That's where you guys come in.
I have checked out most of your pics of your "Rooms Of Doom" but many seem cluttered and just (Dare I say it?) a bloody mess to be honest. I don't want that.
Currently I have my games / Cd's / Dvd's all stored up in those cheap plastic collapsable crate things. This is great, except it makes it quite hard to access if I need to add games to their specific crate...
I don't really want to have all my games on shelves either. The crates are great because they protect games like N64 and GameBoy games as well as my sealed DreamCast collection... It also helps protect them from sun bleaching too. However, I wouldn't mind having a few games (Ie, PS2 / PS1 Etc) out on shelves for display and use purposes.
Bearing in mind the room also has to be pretty tidy being an office as well, and the fact that my dad will also be using it too as well as my mates when they come around...
So, does anyone have any storage solutions? Anyone got any ingenious ways of storing their stuff?
At one time I played with the thought of having actual store shelves up on the wall... Kinda like what you would find in your local game shop, but as my collection grew, that idea went into the trash.
I did notice though that someone on here has a PlayStation cabinet with a glass front and all their PS1 games inside... Who is that? And where did you get such a marvelous display cabinet? I so want one!!!
Whatever I choose to do, I have to consider that my collection will probably be twice as big in a years time, and then possibly bigger still a year after and so on, so I have to consider what I will do when I have all the new generation stuff in there as well
