Got a copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time XBox, excited, when received, ouch! the ugly and nasty PH version, I think I've never seen POP in Platinum Hits version, hope this thing is rare like Power Stone or MvC Dreamcast SAS versions.
BTW, does Microsoft have list of PH games for Xbox? Their site seems difficult to navigate.

I am assuming these are the same as our "Xbox classics" range... Are these released after the game has sold a million copies? If not, when do these get a release?

Yes, it's the same idea as Xbox Classics, but I don't think they have to have sold a million copies. There's some sales threshold, but I'm not sure what it is.

Only Halo 2 and Fable sold in millions. I am surprised Ninja Gaiden didn't sell in millions, its better than both Halo and Fable.

There is no sales threshold. Whenever a game dips in sales, they stick it in the Platinum Hits range to try and rake a bit more cash in.

(BTW Yes, the Platinum Hits range is the same as the Classic range in the UK. However, I don't know if all the titles are the same.)

I actually like the color of the Platinum Hits cases better than the regular editions... that green is kind of ugly

I have one Platinum Hits game in my collection and I f*ckin hate it so much. It sticks out like such a sore thumb that it drives me nuts. Maybe I'm just a bit Obsessive Compulsive?.... :hmm: I'm trying to find the original version still, but I have'nt found it yet. :/

Just like with all greatest hits releases, they just seem less authentic. I got rid of my "greatest hits" Xenogears and picked up the original release for 10 dollars. I just can't stand the ghastly green stripe on the side. Just seems cheap.

I think that I would like the Platnium Hits packaging if that is all they came in. I've got only two PH games right now though (Amped and THUG), and they drive me nuts because they are so different. And usually, I really don't care about that stuff.
Probably 1/3rd of my GameCube games are Players Choice and that doesn't bother me at all.

Personally, I like the PH versions better too. I think silver looks better and is easier on the eyes. Also, I've never seen that POP PH version, ever. I'd hold onto it if I had it.

i'll never like any game that has the platinum hits or greatest hits...the cases are so ugly...i dunno tho...like when i was working for target the sony rep said any time a game on the ps2 hits 1million copies sold they put it in a waiting period and eventually put it out as a greatest hit, and he said xbox throws greatests hits out at much lesser a sales status..not sure what it is though

I have yet to buy any of those nasty greatest hits, platinum hits, or players choice games. they are such an eye soir with the rest of my collection, i dont let myself buy them.

Wrong. Off the top of my head Halo sold over a million copies last year alone and ESPN NFL 2K5 also sold over a million copies (on Xbox). I'm sure there are more titles that have sold in the millions, if not in the US market than worldwide.

I'm pretty sure its 300k for PS/2 games. Its probably pretty close for the XB and GC too. Just look at all those "Greatest Hits" games, there's no way all of them sold a million copies. But I do know for the 64 the title did have to sell a million copies (not sure if this was the case for the SNES or not though).
