I think it's a very nice game. Haven't played the newer parts so I can't make any connections but the gameplay itself is great.
It absolutely IS worth getting.

Reason asking is found a non-GH of it at EB for $10 in their used bin.
Go get that game NOW.

Depends on your style I guess. Blood Omen's gameplay is more Zelda-like while Soul Reaver is more like the Tomb Raider titles.

It's pretty cool from what I've played. At least it's top-down so I can see where the hell I'm going as opposed to Soul Reaver. The worst thing about Blood Omen is that the voice acting is uncomfortably loud. I'll turn it down so low that I barely hear anything else, but the voice acting will still be blasting me.

It's a good game I liked it better then it's later counter parts. so I would get it.

A great game, I would put Legacy of Kain above any games in the Soul Reaver series for sure. LoK is one of my favorite PS1 games out there. If you would rather play a 3D Kain game go for Legacy of Kain: Defiance. This is by far the best 3D title in the LoK/SR series and is probably the best of all of them, though I have a hard time saying it is better than the original LoK mostly because of nostalgia. :D

Actually, it's "vae victus" -- Latin for "suffering to the conquered." So if ever you meet a sadistic chick who's fluent in dead languages, you've got the perfect pick-up line.

Blood Omen is a great game if you can handle the frequent load times. I personally enjoyed every game in the Legacy of Kain series.

Personally, this game got on my nerves. It wasn't bad, just I don't know. Something was missing. Worth a play through if you love the series, though.
Actually, when I got tired of it, I traded it and it alone for a copy of Final Fantasy VII.

Pure and simple answer: get both games. In my opinion, one of the top 10 of the PSX and DC generation.
I'm putting a sale thread up this coming wkend w/ Blood Omen: LoK for $7.

Been a while, so I don't remember the details, but I do recall having a love/hate relationship with that game. One thing I'll never forget is a friggin' ton of load times.

I really liked this game when it came out. So, I was rather excited to find it complete and cheap a while back. Time wasn't kind to this game though. Sooooo sloooow. If you haven't played it yet I'd say go for it because it really is a good game at it's core. It just may not elicit a replay down the road. The second time through it feels like, "I thought this game was better than this."
It was a bit of a disappointment, but not the first time. :)

I totally forgot about wanting this for some time until a friend of mine rekindled the interest. So I found a copy (non-GH too!) on Amazon, and found this topic. ^^
