Hi guys!

I came across a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Master System that works on my NTSC/American SMS. Surprisingly, I found it to be quite the fun little game. So, now I want I want to buy Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Chaos. But, I need help.

Was Sonic released in the US? How about Sonic 2 and Sonic Chaos? I see a lot of auctions in England and Australia for Sonic 2 and Sonic Chaos, but I *think* they're all PAL and I'm not sure if they would work on my system. So, if I bought them from ebay, would they work? If not, where could I find a copy of Sonic 2 and Sonic Chaos that would work on my American Sega Master System? Help is definitely appreciated.

Regards,
-John

Sonic was released in the US but it's extremely rare.

The European release is pretty much identical. Sonic 2, Chaos, and 3D Blast were Tectoy / EURO releases only.

But the SMS is region free, so feel free to purchase any SMS game out there. It'll work on your system.

Yeah, pal versions of Sonic will work on a NTSC Master Systems. I know because I own pal copies of both Sonic 1 and 2 for SMS. As for US version, just keep your eyes open and searching ebay, ones bound to pop up sooner or later.

There were also Brazilian releases of all of those games. If you know anyone down there, you can get them pretty cheaply as they are rather common -- the SMS had stuff coming out for it for a long, long time after it died everywhere else in Brazil.

Sonic Blast was a Brazilian release only actually...and will not work on NTSC US SMS

Sonic 2 and Chaos was not released in the USA (Just Europe and Australia)

Best place to find them, is Ebay pretty much or find one of the local European members from here

That's funny because I have several Tectoy games and they work fine on my US SMS. I've never actually tried Sonic Blast in mine; I just assumed it would work.

Have to try it tonight and see what happens.

Well this was from someone else here at DP who has a copy of Sonic Blast, says his will not work.

The only two Tec Toy games I have ran across that won't work on NTSC US is SF2 and Sonic Blast

Hi guys,

So, from what I hear, it sounds like I need to snag a copy from Eurupe or Australia. Are the colors any different when comparing NTSC/PAL versions? Or, will it look completely the same? Playability of course, is the preferred thing, but I'm wondering if it would look identical (i.e if it plays, but Sonic is a bright red color on a prison-yellow background, it might be a little weird).

The exact same color and everything actually, so no worries
