Either Tempest 2000 or Robotron 64, probably.
Thank gosh I'd still have pinball ;)

Something with good replay value. That means random boards / levels and something that is continuously different and interesting.
Since few games - if any - do this, I'd say either X-Com: UFO Defense or Age of Empires II: Age of Kings. Both of those have it.

Ikaruga since it'll probably take the rest of my life to beat it without any continues.

Master of Orion 2.
When I buy or build a new computer, after the OS and anti-virus, MOO2 goes on.
It's one of a handful of games where you can beat a game, start a new one ten seconds later, and it will be just as enthralling.
The epitome of endless replayability.
Civilization and Simcity come in a close 2nd and 3rd.

Amen. Age of Kings and Counterstrike were my life in college. I lived in a house with 5 guys and we had an network setup in the basement. I really took it for granted because I'll never have those times back.

Some possibilities:
Civ II or III or Civ: Call to Power II
Final Fantasy VII (call me a sicko but I can play this game over and over)
Maybe Super Mario World
If we include pinball, then Theatre of Magic.

Halo 2 on Xbox Live

StarCraft:BroodWar with internet connection. This is the ONLY game that I have never gotten boared of. I've had it for 6 years and have yet to go on a hiatus of more than a month from it.

Ocarina Of Time
Super Mario World
SMB 3
Mario 64
To hard to choose just one, but if I had to, it would be one of those!

Sonic 3 locked on with sonic and knuckles. Best 1 (Or 2) Sonic games, ever.

either Street Fighter III: Third Strike or King of Fighters '97. I have a hard time choosing either or, but one of those two would do nicely.

age of mythology, or the battle for middle earth.
I'd have to say the arcade version of Smash T.V. or World Series Baseball '98 for the Sega Saturn. I still play these games at least once a month (I don't play console games very often).
and..
I guess I can't forget Counterstrike...I've been playing it since Beta 5.
One of those 3. :D

I've got to go with Ghosts 'n Goblins for the NES. It's so damn hard maybe in a lifetime of playing nothing but it i might actually beat it.
Or i might commit suicide from frustration.

Kirby's Star Stacker, though I'm getting o so close to victory after 9 years... so its addictiveness might werar off. Still one Hell of a fun game.

Galaga. Definitely Galaga.
Mr Mort

No doubt about it, Street Fighter Zero 3 on the Sega Saturn.
So many characters, each with 3 fighting styles, awesome animation, deep and complex gameplay, it would take an eternity to even scratch the surface...

Interesting mixed bag of choices so far.
I'd probably say Mr. Do!, for the same reason a lot of people chose Galaga. The cool thing about classic games is I could play Mr. Do! once a day, every day, for the rest of my life and not get bored.
Do! Run Run, Joust, Mr. Do!'s Castle, or Spy Hunter would all be good candidates.

Hell, I don't know. Maybe Fallout 2?
Dr. Morbis

Either Kaboom or one of the NHL games with season/franchise mode.

For me it would have to be....Solar Quest! I would prefer the arcade ( COOL sound effects) but ill keep my Vectrex version :-P
That, or Tempest ;)

No matter how much I want to answer Super Mario World...somehow, wouldn't a sports game offer THE best eternal value? Especially if it's 2 player....
Really, really, really easy answer.
Final Fantasy 10.
I've loved everything about the game since I first laid eyes on it. Always have, always will. I COULD play it forever and never tire of it.

Colin McRae Rally 2005.
There are just so many game modes and race options. I wouldn't need anything else.

i agree with ikaruga, just because it will take a life time for me to beat it....other than that its a toss up between Tiny Toons : Busters Hidden Treasure on Genny and Bubble Bobble on NES

Burnout 3 is the only game I can think of that has the most replay value.
Castlevania (NES) would be my second choice.

My answer would be Bemani-related, but my Japanese PS2 recently stopped reading discs so I can't exactly play those the rest of my life, heh.
I swear I could play Championship Pool on SNES the rest of my life.

I would have to say X-Com Ufo defense(ps). I never get bored of this game.

Even though it's not in my top 5 favorite games list, I have to pick Dr. Mario. It is my favorite puzzle game ever, and I think gives more replay value than even the really fun adventure games or side scrollers.

I have a few choices any of these would do fine for me:
Streetfighter3: third strike (Dreamcast)
Resident Evil 3:Nemesis (Dreamcast)
Silent Hill 1 (PSone/2)
Guilty Gear X (PS2)
but the one single game that I could without a doubt play forever would be:
STREETFIGHTER ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (PS2) since it includes everything I have loved about the SF series ever since I was a wee lass ;)

X-Com: UFO Defense. I've never gotten bored of it...ever.
Alternate choices if I did not have a PC include:
Rock N' Roll Racing (SNES)
Final Fantasy III (SNES)
Warsong (Genesis)
Gauntlet IV (Genesis)
Image Fight 2 (PCE Duo)
Intelligent Qube (PSX)

Either Jet Set Radio or Thunder Castle. I could easily play both forever.

Advance Wars 2. The amount of maps to play is astounding and you can create all the new maps you want. And you can play 2 players on one GBA.
Cirrus
02-09-2005, 01:50 PM
SSX 3, I guess. I don't even play it that much now, but it's got great music, more challenges than I could ever complete, and it has a good feel.
Plus, it's 2 player, which is an important aspect for you guys to consider.

Ultima Online.
I've already been playing it 7 years, and see myself playing it until the day they pull the plug. There is simply so much to do that I doubt I'll ever do it all. Plus they keep patching in new content and publishing more expansions.
