FYI:It's for the Atari 8-bits.

You play what looks like a ghost from Pac-Man in what is essentially a Pac-Man clone. That fact is cleverly disguised because you're being chased by mice and instead of eating dots you lay down pipe.

<insert "Laying Pipe" joke here>

Once the whole level is covered in pipe you move to a new board (as far as I know it's also like Pac-Man in that the board never changes). There are these squares that make me think of fly paper that you can 'trick' the mice into running into and they freeze. There is the typical Pac-Man tunnel except it runs up and down. And where you would think would be power dots are little icons that look like cats but I have no idea what they do (they just connect to the pipe).

I know there aren't many 8-bit computer gamers here but give 'er a shot if you know. It's killing me.

Like autobotracing said, It sounds a bit like Make Trax aka Crush Roller. You're a paintbrush painting in the maze. :-D

I don't recall a version of it for the 8-bit Ataris though. Maybe it's a clone of some kind? Make Trax has three tunnels (six portals) with one at the top/bottom and two on each side, and there's no "fly paper" but rather a roller that you can use to crush the fish, mice, etc.

Much of your description matches Make Trax/Crush Roller though. Does it look a little bit like this:

It *is* similar to those games but that's not it.

It's Mousekattack (or MouseKattack). 1981 from Sierra On-Line.

Turns out the 'fly paper' is supposed to be cheese. You've *got* to love those early 80s graphics :) And the cats can be picked up and dropped behind you (the mice can't pass through them) - so that's part of the strategy for winning.
